If the bulbs are old, changing them can make a big difference (don't waste your money on "upgrade" bulbs - standard 4300K ones are best), but otherwise, nothing short of adding aux lamps.

Vehicle is <12 months o0ld, it is the nights drawing in that have made me remember the headlights are not the most powerful I have ever had. They were a lot better on my XF. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Bulbs shouldn't be an issue then. You're missing those extra 3000 odd lumens that your XF would also have had. Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I agree, they could be brighter, I noticed a drop in brightness from my FL2 xenons. Replaced them with 6000k ones and they are brighter and whiter then the OEM even though 6000k tend to output less lumens of light.

No, LEDs aren't suitable. A xenon arc offers the tighest possible focus while an LED offers the worst, before you even consider retrospection where it is impossible to line up the focal point correctly.
