L320 - No SatNav - Options?

So I am interested in a RRS L320 (2008 S model) at a good price but it doesnt have SatNav.

What are my options? How much would it cost to fit a OEM Sat Nav or can I get something like an Apple Carplay and use Sat Nav that way.

Best advice is to buy an HSE instead. Not much of a price differential and you'll get a lot more kit. Thumbs Up 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

The price/paperwork is really good and condition/milage of the car. It has leather seats, front and rear parking sensors, front fogs etc so some of the options of HSE. I only really bothered about adding SatNav.

I don't use the cars satnav much (its crap), always end up loading Google maps on the phone for better traffic and road conditions. If you feel the car is good and well priced go for it and spend the money on a decent aftermarket satnav (Maybe speak to a few radio installers). Also remember no satnav means low price when you come to trade/sell.

I also have a base model and have put in a Garmin 6" model into my cubby. Just sits in there, no installation required - later I will run power from behind.

The latest 2016 map update still uses 2014 maps, loads more POIs but they're as much use as nothing.
The Sat Nav works, but is years behind technology wise, you can upload speed cameras, but you can't get alerts etc.
JLR mapping unfortunately is absolute crap, and more up to date systems and mapping fitted on 2004 MGZTs using BMW kit.

Above refers to the HD (Hard Drive) system fitted on facelift 2010-2013, which you can't get any maps from eBay and have to pay around £120.00 for an updated Rolling with laughter version. John

RRS sat nav can get you from A-B .....via.....CDEFGH...Z!
There a few decent cd upgrades to be found on eBay but pick and chose wisely. Recommend Russell Stewart rustymidgetman@sky.com, very reasonable and top quality, great upgrade for older BMW system, made a difference to LR 2006 system! D3 TDV6 SE auto 2006

I've installed the Alpine ILX-700 in place of the OE stereo. Its not SatNav (well other than Apple Maps which you need internet for) but I did it myself reasonably simply. There's a load of detail on this thread http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic38089.html

Incartec do a good kit for a replacement with all the wires etc needed, so its just a matter of following the instructions plus there are loads of youtube vids on how to dismantle the centre console etc.

Happy to offer any help if you decide to do it yourself.

Yep will agree, the sat nav has to be the most pointless p.o.s ever installed by LR. I recently went to London only driven a few times in the city, so made it to London put on the sat nav in the motor and on my phone (also had printed some maps), up to a point they were the same then the lr sat nav told me to take a right turn off of a main road (which my wife was following on the printed out map) and the phone. I thought ile trust the car!!! Took me through some of the smallest back street 15mph zones I've ever encounter after 25 mins I finally reappeared back on the same road I just turned off from, the laughable bit was where I came out I could see the junction I turned off at..lol. It was 5am in the morning so traffic wasn't built up and there were no rosdworks so for the life of me, it had no reason to take me on a round trip through some housing estates!

I've not had much luck with the SAT NAV. Thought I must have an incorrect setting. Maybe not
