Hello all,

Had the following fitted today at a garage I know on my 07 TDV8:

Front lower wishbones
Track rod ends
Anti roll bar bushes
Front stabiliser drop links

As the car drove out of the garage it stayed at access height and would rise. I told them this wasn't normal and they claimed that it had registered a suspension fault when they first started it up after I had dropped it off (highly doubtful).

I got them to fault code read it and it had registered a fault but they wiped it before I could note it down. Car re-started and it rose fine and I thought all was well. 2 miles away from the garage the fault popped up again and it said 'normal height only'. I pulled over and restarted the car and the fault cleared, I raised the suspension but when I tried to lower it I realised that the button to lower it doesn't work. There is no resistance or click to the button, its like there is simply nothing below the button, it just flaps about. I had to get the car to over 30MPH for it to lower itself. It drove fine again but again after a couple of miles the fault popped up again.

The car doesn't seem to drive any differently with the fault. I would suspect the pump but it had a new one less than a year ago plus when it raises it does it fine without any undue noise.

Could the button be at fault and can I replace just this part? It isn't sticking or anything as the car would constantly try to lower and it doesn't its like someone has removed whatever is supposed to be behind it.

I don't think it's a fault as such, more likely damage to the switch. You may be able to get away with a simple repair or it may require the panel to be replaced, without actually removing the part you won't know for sure.

Either way I would suggest checking the button for impact damage.

Out of curiosity was the garage you took the car to a Landrover dealership, specialist or was it a generic garage ?

All parts fitted in LR dealerships, service centres are guaranteed for a minimum of one year, some two years,
so well worth returning to the garage if you think it is the pump.
If you have access to a code reader such as the IID BT tool this can also adjust suspension heights etc,
But from your description it sounds as if you definately have a faulty switch that requires replacing, I wouldn't have thought that would cause the fault you describe, but until rectified you won't know. I would return car to garage as you don't expect to have a faulty car at pick up?

Thanks for the input guys. There doesn't seem to be any impact damage on the button, it may have been broken for a while and I haven't noticed as I hardly ever use it. It just seems funny that the car went to the garage and now it has a fault. The garage is an independent, I sort of know the guy. Thing is, on the parts he has changed for me, he wouldn't have been anywhere near the suspension would he? I'm just wondering if he's accidentally forgotten to re-attach something or similar along those lines.

Can I swap that control panel out myself or is it a job for a specialist?

Everything barring the TRE is suspension. You need the fault code reading and recording then go from there ...
Try putting the 4x4 info screen up does it show one of the hight sensors out of range ? 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

I just had the tracking done and the guy cleared the fault code before I could note it down but he said it was:

Invalid signal from air suspension control module

The 4x4 info screen doesn't show any faults. As expected, about a mile from the tracking place the fault popped up again. I have ordered that terrain response panel, is this an easy fit or is it a job for the garage?

The air suspension control module is not in the terrain response panel (that's the air suspension control switch).

The module lives on the driver's a-pillar behind the dashboard. You access it through the foot well above the pedals having removed a couple of panels (easy to remove). It would be worth checking that the wires are all pushed home - if someone has tried to disconnect a plug they may have pulled on the wiring to do so. Any loose wires will throw an error. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Does anyone know if it's an easy job?

It's pretty easy but tbh it all depends how confident/capable you are. Everyone is different 😄
