United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Santorini Black

Just noticed your comments about key fobs, unfortunately there's only one, but I'm assuming I could replace it in the near future for around £150 ish (seems the standard charge for new fobs).

If they are recommending the local Indy then ask on here if anybody has any experience of them, RRS is a very common car and we have members using indies all over the UK. The seller must be confident that they have a good one to be offering that long a warranty but I would want piece of mind that it really covers things like the air suspension compressor and EGR/ Turbo replacement which are quite expensive jobs. Otherwise it looks like a nice car. I'm no expert on used cars BTW, having owned only one in the last 16 years, a Land Rover Defender which I still have otherwise all my Range Rover's have been main dealer supplied as new or ex demo cars. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

It's actually a Land Rover specialist called James French in Standlake. Just noticed they've got a Freelander 2 for sale for similar cash but 2012 with 50,000 miles. That really would be the more sensible option, I suppose, but I've never let common sense get in the way of a car purchase. I've had 2 Alfas everybody said would go wrong, and they were good as gold Rolling Eyes

The deal is done. Got £650 knocked off the price, picking it up Tuesday.

I am now terrified and excited.

Thanks for the tips, Tim.

Congratulations, I hope you have many happy miles with it. You will find that driving any Range Rover is more a case of enjoying the drive rather than blasting as fast as you can to get to your destination, they aren't racing cars or even pretending to be GTs but are very comfortable drives. One thing I would highly recommend is to spend some of that £650 on a FULL day out at your local Land Rover Experience centre finding out just what your new car can do, even if you never intend to go off-road on your own they give you the opportunity to ask questions, get tips and see what the car really is capable of without any modifications and on road tyres - it's an awful lot more than you think! If you don't mind a hike then Eastnor Castle is the Daddy of all the LRE's and well worth taking the family with you. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

As the car is high up everything feels quicker anyway Smile

Picking it up Thursday now, after the rear arms are done and it's had a full valet. Can't wait, I'll update the thread when I get it.

Thanks again Tim!

I'm going to do a warranty comparison and find the best available, I think. It's also just been MOT'd so that's good for another year. Cheers all.

Hi Rob,

I've spent hours on here looking at various bits and bobs, including warranty Smile I've seen comments regarding the worth of a warranty in the first year of high mileage used ownership, which makes me wonder if it;s worth it, but I think I'll be too scared commuting in it without a warranty of sorts!

Cheers

The MOT history check brings up only 6 advisories and no fails since 2011, 1 of them is a smearing wiper blade! The other issues have been dealt with recently too, including the front suspension bushes wearing slightly which is being done tomorrow. Fingers crossed I got a good 'un, or I'll be at James French a lot Very Happy can't wait to pick it up now.

Picked it up this morning, excellent drive to work. Like a sofa on wheels. Gets away really well for such a lump, but around national speed limit on a slight incline it's pretty sluggish. Not that I care. Apparently I got 35mpg going from near home to Reading on the a34/m4, seems a bit optimistic, take 10% off for innacurary and that's more than good enough for me.

Only gripe so far is the radio reception is so bad it's unusable. Luckily there's an aux input, but I might have to get the radio sorted as I listen to it fairly often. A double-din aftermarket unit perhaps, although I'd have to work out how to get phone integration sorted. Bluetooth phone works fine, good sound quality. Nav system a bit crap but it works. Reminds me of the one in my 2008 saab 9-5. Might be the same software actually, the map and buttons all look pretty similar from what I remember.

Glad to finally have one, it's a stunner and I still can't believe how comfortable they are. The visibility when overtaking etc is outstanding as well, compared to a saloon.

It might not be the radio that's at fault, take a look at the antenna wires on the rear quarter windows and check that they are not damaged, they should be well and truly stuck onto the glass, also does the car have aftermarket privacy tinting instead of OEM factory privacy (OEM is limo black tinted glass as opposed to aftermarket being stuck on tinted sheet). 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Cheers again Tim. Pretty sure it's OEM. Will check in the morning. Key fob remote locking is intermittently working, garage said they would sort another if it's not working properly after a few good charges on long runs. Absolutely love the car, though. Going to be hard to drive anything other than an RR again I reckon.

I'm on my 3rd, but had a FFRR and 2 Evoques between my current 2015 SDv6 and the previous 2007 RRS TDv8, all the intervening cars were great too but the RRS just seems to be that bit better an all rounder.

Regarding the key fob, it may only need a new rechargeable battery before they go through the palaver of programming a new fob. BTW the fob isn't waterproof............. Unlike the BMW version of the same thing! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
