Good evening just bought a 2012 SDV6 HSE however when playing an iPhone 6 via the cable it seems to skip constantly. I have tried 2 iPhones and swapped cables. Also tried Apple Music and Spotify with the same issue.

Don't have the issue with Bluetooth streaming.

This won't help you fix it but I have an iPhone 6s (previously a 6) ,the same RRS year and music playback works fine.
Have you tried to play podcasts? Is it the same if you control the music playback from the phone?

Similar problem here. iPhone 6plus. Start ok playing back via the cable then the sound just goes off. BT playback works but is very quiet. Normal vol level is ~25 but on BT its nearly up full to get the same sound. So 2 separate issues for me.

Anyone else have this?
