Windscreen squirters are rubbish

Having recently picked up my 07 TDV8 and loving it so far, I was surprised at how rubbish the screen squirters are, they reminded me of an old 80's Ford Escort I had... They work but how dated for what is a modern vehicle to me, I thought all cars over the last 15-20 years had good strong spray jets that cover the windscreen in fine screen wash!

Does anyone know of replacements available that do a better job?

Picky of me I know! Laughing

Mines a 05 and I think they're quite good. Are you sure they're not clogged up?

Definitely not clogged up, I just thought there might be some replacement that sprayed across the screen like other modern cars!

Thinking the same thing- the Evoque I had was a fan/mist effect which was definitely more efficient....

Not sure if they would be a straight swap though?

It's not a major problem, and I feel a bit petty pointing it out Embarassed

I'm certainly going to be pulling them apart and looking for a replacement, what do the newer facelift RRS's have?

I wonder what fitment they are and if jets from a different vehicle could be fitted, like these as example after a brief search

Next chance I get I might have a better look at how RRS is fitted!

You could try fitting a set of RRS2 or Evoque nozzles and see how they clear the screen 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I don't see how a finer spread of water would be any better; it's volume that's needed and more jets, with more water would be great, but then you'd run out all the time/need a bigger tank. Wink

As I see it, the long and short of it is that wipers are great for clearing rain but can't be expected to clean the windscreen. Neutral

Get some of the latest ones, as fitted to the facelift models. They have better heating elements that actually work and have, in fact, supeceeded the original ones. Jets are the same, however. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

They're better than the ones on my classic Mini.. the jet streams hit the wiper arms instead of the windscreen unless you turn the wipers on at the same time Laughing

Personally I think they're fine. I've had streams and mist types on various cars and much prefer the streams to mist personally.. as long as the jets are aligned correctly they seem to do what it says on the tin.

Cheers..

Ian

Something's not right.

I have had two RRS's in the past and I found the washers to be very good, certainly much better than the ones on my L405 RR. 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

Well here in sunny downtown Melbourne we have more rainy days than other places in Aust. But, our rainfall is one of the lowest in populated areas. In other words we have lots of drizzle and light rain.
The washers on most cars have trouble because there is insufficent water at times.
How did I solve the problem.
Other vechiles we had have water squirters on the wiper blades which put the water on the screen directly in front of the wipers - much better. Idea
So I have left the orginals (the more the better) but brought an after market kit including bottle. This has been fitted & wired to operate with the existing system(it could be set up separetly). The hoses are attached to the wiper blades and I have used 'Garden Spray nozzels' which come in a variety of strengths and spray patterns to get the best possible coverage.
Problem solved. Thumbs Up
