Thanks for your quick reply the lens is at the front of the mirror facing the windshield . |

I would think its a sensor for cars that have high beam assist. Mine has the same but doesn't have the option of assist. I believe all Autobiographys had this as standard equipment. That's so it detects oncoming traffic with lights on & switches off your high beam automatically 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

I meant for oncoming cars, as others are suggesting. I could have worded it more accurately perhaps.
