United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Fuji White
2012 RRS & Warranty

Hi All, long time lurker here. i have just bought a 2012 RRS and i love it. I had a 2007 TDV8 before this and really loved the engine and thought i might miss it when i went for the SDV6....i don't the SDV6 is a lovely drive.

Anyway its still got a few weeks of the manufacturers warranty left on it and during a few hundred mile run at weekend the "check coolant level" warning came on multiple times. i did check it and it was fine, thinking maybe a faulty sensor. Telephoned a dealer today and they confirmed its still in warranty and told me i would be better calling Land rover assist to get them out. I am going to ring them tomorrow, whats the procedure? do they come and recover it or fix it at roadside?

Also i got a 12 month Warranty Wise Platinum Plus policy with it when i bought it. Is it any good or like most warranties is it a bag of poop.

Thanks.

When I rang LR Asisst they came out within 40 mins did their tests. Booked the car into a main dealer and sorted a courtesy car. Just ring them and tell them the dealer advised you to call them. Also email the dealer stating youre going to LR assist as advised by them. Stops them getting out of issues by saying you should of gone to them first.

If you get LR Assist out then they'll organise a replacement car for you. If you go in to the dealership then the first 24 hour of replacement car is down to you on the warranty. The dealer won't have a loan car available on short notice which is why they're saying call out Assist. Also, under the terms of Assist, the dealer is supposed to sort the issue in 48 hours if possible so it'll bump it up the work list at the dealership.

As for warranties, I'd go for Land Rover extended warranty with LR Assist. It's a bit more money but it really is pretty good. Not much hasn't been covered on my RRS. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Also rinse the poop out of what's left of the manufacturers warranty, I mean every creek squeak rattle hum bump knock wobble. Get it done, don't be shy be a pain in the dealers Censored . Take the Censored get everything done.

Thanks for your advice

Marvik125 - Good advice, there is a very slight rattle now and again near fan belt so will also mention that, thanks.

SarpieRRS - I bought it from a indi specialist (not landcover), they have offered to take it in but as the problems are pretty minor i said i would do it, also the place i bought it from is a 2hour drive.

Peachy - I didn't know i could extend my warranty as i didn't buy it from Landcover, if i can its something i am defiantly interested in...how do i go about this and any rough costings?

RRSTDV8 - Thanks, i think this is why they said call Land rover assist, warranty runs out on 6th August and she said she is booking jobs in for the 5th so its bit tight.

Awesome car though, well impressed (i still loved my TDV8 though and the burble that went with it)

Just report everything before the 6th it doesn't matter if they cannot book it in, make sure the fault is reported before the 6th, then you have everything on your side. Any fault that occurs whilst the car is under warranty will be fixed under warranty. The fix date can be after the date the warranty expires but the faults MUST be reported whilst the car is under warranty.

Also just ask any main dealer about extending the warranty, again this is best done whilst the main warranty is still running.

Also whatever they try to tell you , remember any work also has its own warranty as do the parts. The amount of people who dont know their rights or are to shy to cause a fuss, it just lets dealers get away with ripping people off. I am a nightmare customer, AN I LOVE IT LOL.

I will ask the dealers about extending the warranty, just put my details in online and its offering Land rover extended warranty with Land rover assist for £1030 (12 months) is this about right or will i get it cheaper at the dealers. Mileage on car is 20000.

Wow, I got it included in the price of my car for 2 years with £750 MOT fail insurance. I just cannot see the logic in not buying such a car from the LR approved used scheme.

If you had bought from the dealers it would been included, if it wasn't included and you got it from a Maindealer they would of had an incentive to give you a deal on a warranty. But I'm afraid as you bought from an Indy LR have no real incentive to offer you a deal.

Assuming a car like yours was traded back to a main dealer you have to ask why the Maindealer did not want to sell it themselves? Unfortunately the crappers go to auction and end up at indies.

Is that Approved or Select? The Approved is the better one to get as it's unlimited claim value up to the price of the vehicle. Select is limited to about £3000 per claim.

As mine has now passed 100k miles LR Warranty doesn't want my business any more. Shame, it's been very useful these past 4 years... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

As marvik says,,always best to buy from a LR dealer.I would never buy a car like this from a Indi.ive just bought a 2012 & got 2 years warranty + the next 2 services for free & paid the same money for the car as indi's & private were asking.
