EAS Calibration with IIDTool, but car is to low or not?

Hi,
i have used height adjustment with IIDTool, but i was not sure if the values was accepted, so i did it 2 times, and than i want make it original and now i am not sure was the original height because its always just an offset.. ok call me idiot...Smile

I found this:

These are the original baseline heights for your vehicle:

Original Standard height values Wheel Center to lower edge of wheel arch
Front (mm) 466
Rear (mm) 485

This is for normal height right? But when i measure with my car i measure something about 430mm...that means my car is too low from previous owner? And its normal that when the car is leveled that front and rear is not the same?

I measure from the wheel center, so it doesn't matter what wheel size right? Now i am using 20"

Please give me some advice to bring back to normal height...

Frank, follow the instructions in the manual for the IID tool, there is a calculation sheet in there. Follow it exactly and it will fix your problem. It evene mentions what the heights should be.

thanks for fast reply...

but in the manual i found that the height adjustments as an offset will effect all heights, offroad, normal and access height...

so there is no problem when i lower the car maybe about 20mm with that offset and start the calibration?

Not being funny, but have you looked at the calibration sheet.......?





Standard ride height for RRS

Front 461mm aim for a tolerance of +- 10mm
Rear 465mm aim for a tolerance of +- 10mm

you have to calibrate left to right so that the heights on both sides are the same and then yoiu adjust the front or the rear to increase/decrease to get the heights correct.

Personally, I would calibrate left to right values (or right to left, it doesn't matter really) and then you should set the heights to factory and then adjust them all higher or lower as required to get whatever height you are looking for. Bodsys Brake Bible

Wer did you find this?

That document saying something else...466 and 485

ok i did the calibration and now i understand that the calibration has nothing to do with the height, its only to calibrate the sensors to each other. the final height has to be set at the end, right?

what height is acceptable? i think to low or too high is not good and can be dangerous...i like more low but i am afraid i will damage something, or will get an unstable car when driving on highway

i have measured from wheel center to wheel arch and have set front to 456 and rear to 460mm in normal position...[/quote]

There is an error in the IIDTool user manual and I will make the correction Bodsy's right:

Front 461mm aim for a tolerance of +- 10mm
Rear 465mm aim for a tolerance of +- 10mm

To simplify matters, you could recall the original height backed up when the tool was first connected: IIDTool Menu->Save Restore->Restore Settings->EAS Calibration->Restore Original http://www.gap-diagnostic.com/

i have done all steps and now the failure is gone...
that heights are original...

i want to make it little bit lower.... is there any min. height which is still in range and safe?

drop it 10mm and drive. then drop another 10mm and drive, then drop 1mm increments until you get fed up with the ride and put it back to original... Wink Bodsys Brake Bible

Bodsy's spot on. Keep in mind that if you lower it too much, the access height will become unusable as in:

If values for the standard height are set too low, the vehicle may reach the bump stops in access mode: In this case the EAS ECU registers a bottomed out condition and enters ‘Extended Mode’ automatically raising the vehicle (to allow the vehicle to drive out of the bottomed out condition). http://www.gap-diagnostic.com/
