New front discs needed? Maybe?

Hi guys
Just checked my front discs and measured them with caliper measuring tool and are 30mm thick
I know should be changed at 27 mm and also pads aswell with new discs
Just wondered should I change the discs now has getting near to limit of 27 mm?? Do have quite a lip on the edge also
Back are fine has was changed at service before I had car and are 25mm still, limit 17mm if I'm right
Cheers

Firstly unless there is an issue you do not need to replace disks when replacing pads - I am on my second set of pads on original disks.

At 30mm your disks are barely worn (I think they are 30mm when new) so unless there are deep gouges or they are warped there is no need to replace the disks. 07MY RRS TDV6

I know don't have to replace discs when replace pads but when replace discs should replace the pads aswell is what ive always known?!
I don't quite understand that then if new discs are 30mm to start off with mine are on 30mm now and definately not new has they have a lip on them from wear
Anybody else got any views? What is the thickness of new front discs ???
Cheers

New front disks are 30mm, they have a wear limit of 27mm. You need to measure the 'working' part of the disk with a gauge. If they have a thick lip around the edge and are heading towards the 27mm thickness, then get them replaced. Additionally, if they are excessively corroded, it will be blocking all of the cooling fins, so will be starting to become less efficient, so may well be worthwhile changing.

The rear disks are 20mm thickness new and have a wear limit of 17mm.

When changing disks, it is always recommended to change the pads, otherwise any uneven wear you had on old disks, will be transferred to the new ones from the partially worn pads. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible
