Serious savings on a TDV8 injector repair

Yesterday, I drove down to LR dealer and asked how much to repair a injector, it was estimated at £1000 + vat
I also went to an indi and they estimated £675 + Vat

Today i found a guy who works on diesel injections who owns a local garage to me, I explained previous prices to him.

I left the RRS with him and got a call midday to say unfortunately two injectors were leaking not one Crying or Very sad , he asked me to come in, so he could show me, and as clear as day, it was very obvious two had been leaking, it does seem to make a mess there was a carbon like build up all around both injectors and plastic cover.
I told him to just get it done, and at 2pm it was all done.
He removed both of them cleaned them and replaced seals, saved me a fortune on having them replaced at circa £500 per injector plus labour.
the total bill was £200.00 Thumbs Up

If anyone has injector issues, i would be happy to give you his details to help, he works on both 2.7 and 3.6 Thumbs Up

PH.

For me, i had the vehical thoroughly checked over when i had my first service, and the chap said it needs addressing, but i could smell deisel when standing outside the motor.
The tick over was a little lumpy on idle, and it wasnt very responsive at a roundabout.

It has made a significant difference getting it done.

It sure pays to shop around. Top tip there Paul.

The 'official' injector removal procedure involves a fair bit of dismantling to get at the injectors, including (if it is the LH bank) first withdrawing all the air conditioning refrigerant and disconnecting the A/C lines.

Did your man do that or does he have a way round it I wonder?

Once access has been gained to the injectors it looks like a simple remove and replace of the injector seal and clamp but you need a special tool to pull out the injectors;

My Merc e320 suffered from the same thing, the indie removed them, cleaned all the carbon off, which was the most time consuming part, Helicoiled the head and re-fitted them with new seals, i think it was around £170 for each one, but that was over 5 years ago 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater Smile)))

How did you get on with the injectors from this co. I need 4 myself but have heard these cannot be reconditioned even though many seem to offer this service?
