IIRC, the SDV6 has 10bhp more than the TDV6. Not a game changer. A remap would negate any difference

The 8 speed box is much, much better, though not without it's software quirks. I have a few customers who prefer the earlier 6 speed box. Probably a little better on fuel, but not enough to worry about.

I am not a fan of the chrome strip on the tailgate of the newer model

For me, I would have the 6 speed, save the £3.5k and have it mapped Thumbs Up

Of course, this doesn't take into account overall condition of either car

I think the 61 plate SDV6 is winning. Not least, as I can't finance the 60 plate over the term I need to get to the payments I am prepare to pay with LR Finance.

I just need to try and squeeze the dealer for some money off......

I have to assume that the car is in tip top condition, I have asked the salesman a lot of detailed questions about it.

Looked at the dealer websites and noticed both cars have aftermarket sidesteps/running boards. IMHO these are a menace!

The design of the doors keeps the sills completely free of dirt and mud so you can slide out in a narrow parking space and not get dirt on the back of your trouser legs. Can't do that with sidesteps. This feature is appreciated even more by SWMBO!

Just my 2p

By the way, I paid Guy Salmon £31.5K for my 38000 mile, 11-plate TDV6, so maybe there is some wiggle room for you 2011 TDV6 HSE Stornoway grey, ivory trim

How can you tell that the side steps are aftermarket?

I find that standing on the step - that's what it's for after all - allows one to squeeze in to a tight door opening without getting messy. Stepping over the step seems a tad, well, odd. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

As Disco_Mikeys comments, I would go for the TDV6 and get it mapped and get a considerable increase in BHP.

I have just had mine done and its immense Thumbs Up

I can't tell, of course - I meant only that they are not standard as far as I know. 2011 TDV6 HSE Stornoway grey, ivory trim

Totally agree, always step in and out using the steps, and never get dirty legs Thumbs Up 2016 VW Golf GTD DSG

Probably a height thing - I'm 6'3" and my feet reach the ground as I swing out of the seat. Anyone of more normal size clearly finds it easier to use a step. 2011 TDV6 HSE Stornoway grey, ivory trim

I'm 6'1" - is that "normal size" these days? Perhaps it is as there seem to be lots of taller young people around these days.

I'm sure two inches doesn't make that much difference...! Whistle Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
