Thanks for the advice thus far - tbh I should have stated that I was going to look at an HSE given the bits n bobs I've read so far.

tbh after owning both id go and look at an x5, it wont bankrupt you, admittingly my rrs has had little to no issues however i had 2 x5s before this and did megger milage in both and had no issues at all. just my opinion of course, my rrs is a love hate, i love its driving position and comfort however its currently managing 10 mpg worse average than the diesel x5 and is a lot slower. |

Did consider an X5 but tbh the just don't 'do' it for me. Look quite good on the outside (though the rrs looks better, imo). When you get to the interior though there is no contest at all - the rrs just strikes me as being that much more special (in a good way!). I'll admit that the extra 10mpg wouldn't go amiss... but if mpgs were the deciding factor we'd not be looking at a luxury SUV in the 1st place. Add into the fact that an astra will be the schlepping car and the mustang another weekend/fun car the rrs should have a (relatively) quiet time of it |

totally agree with the rrs looking better and mpg is now not a factor for me now doing about 3k per year in my rrs and did 45k per year when i had x5s, thats what throws me as to me the x5s are a better all round package just the rrs does something to you that they dont, however im after pure speed next so im goint to test an x5m, ml63 and a 5.0sc but have a awfull suspision that the rrs will feel more special. |

got to be honest Mike your one looks amazing - BUT it would be substantially over budget. I know that in real terms it is a great buy however budgets are budgets |

I love RRSs, I have owned 2. They are very comfortable. But as a "driver's car" my X6 leaves them for dead dynamically and for performance. But, I still miss my RRSs. They are great on the highway but the X6 loves corners much more than the RRS. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

BK - my driving 'style' or preference is relaxed cruising - too old for hooning around that much.... like I said earlier I've got a Mustang so the whole sporty driving thing is not as much of an issue to be fair (though if I'm totally honest I rather suspect that the X5/6 would leave my mussie for dead too ). |

I don't get much chance to hoon, I only live 1.5 miles from the city.. I agree with you and if you have another toy, get an RRS, they are beautiful if you get a good one.
