Don't be so sure it doesn't happen on European ferries, we lost an artic fridge on the Irish Sea crossing to Dublin in December, when Eastern European deck hand cousins forgot to tie it down. As it was not connected to a tractor unit luckily. Still fighting with Irish ferries to recover loss 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

that's a car carrier, on the lower deck fore end, im guessing they used standard car strops and not 2.5 t ratchet ones. used to stevedore at sheerness,dartford,purfleet docks |

Travelling back from France one time, our ferry hit a coastal container ship, ship sank within 15 mins crew rescued, all the cars on the car decks concertinaed into each other, bit of multiple mess on the car decks, try tell your insurance company that one!

I was a bit concerned last Tuesday as travelled out from Weymouth to St malo via Guernsey on Condor Ferries, with 3 metre waves. Loads of people being ill, and I had 2 dogs in the RRS! Fortunately the dogs didn't throw up....I went outside to avoid being ill as fresh air helps, and all the cars were undamaged! Bit of a relief to dock! |
