Time to test the warranty

Hi

I have had the yellow suspension light come on over the last few days - when i restart it disappears. the normal message 'suspension fault - normal height selected' Sad

It happened a few months ago as well but seems to happen more often now. I was thinking of taking it in under the warranty to my local stratstone dealer. I have a couple of questions:

1. Any idea what this may be - compressor?? ( i know it may be difficult without fault code).

2. dealer has said I have to pay for diagnostic and then they will check if covered under warranty Question - is that normal and if it is covered will the warranty then also cover the diagnostic - this a land rover warranty i got when i brought the car from the dealership in June.

Thanks in advance.

I've got a 2 bob none LR warranty and I know I have to pay for the diagnostics, even if the fault is subsequently covered by the warranty. I wouldn't expect that from a LR warranty though.

This comes up time and again but answer is always stock, if you don't want to do the job there will be someone else who will. This crap about dealers asking for £150 up front to plug computer in and phone you back to say its a this or that takes the p***. The labour charge for doing the job is covered in the factory times and this is just another scam along with oil disposal and seat covers.
No love for dealer network and their little scams. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!

thanks for the replies. Thumbs Up

the consensus seems to be try to find a dealer that will not charge.

may take it back to the lookers dealership and ask them...unless anyone has any suggestions.

Nope, you can call then for all sorts.
I had a brake problem where after 10 mins of driving my rear brakes started to squeal.
Rang assist, a mechanic turned up so we went out for a little drive until the noise appeared.
He quickly diagnosed the problem and the car was booked in for repairs, great service Thumbs Up

Hi all

Finally got may car and booked it in to have the fault looked at - LR asssit did not come out and tried to diagnose over the phone and said it was most likely the height sensor - hopefully this should be covered by the warranty.

Booked it with Stratstone South Woodford - and earliest they could book it in for was 2 April Shocked

Any how LR assist told me to take it in and provided me with a hire car.

I also needed the MOT done so booked it in for that too - Stratstone got back to me and said it had failed on the following:

Numberplates Question
Numberplate NS bulb
OSF position lamp (alignement I think)
Rear stop lamps (sure the bulbs were ok)
NSR/OSR suspension arm bushes Big Cry

He is going to do the full health check and contact LR warranty to see what they cover ( I also got the MOT cover when I brought the RRS) - reading previous posts I guess it depends on which dealership you use. Although I thought it would fail on tyres but it didn't. Mad

Has anybody had the bushes covered under the warranty or MOT cover?

Not bothered too much about blubs etc but any idea how much the other stuff may cost if it is not covered.

Thanks

You could well find that the bulbs and your suspension dashboard light problems are linked. Plenty on here about blown/fading brake bulbs causing all manor of gremlins throughout the car. Get those replaced (with genuine parts) first and see if things improve.

Still, if the garage are going to replace the height sensor, then you might as well get that done too I suppose. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I had bushes and drop links replaced under the "Approved" (not "Select") Extended Warranty last year.

The LR select policy doesn't cover bushes and.most other suspension parts. Had it on my previous RRS and it was a complete waste of money, they rejecred all my claims due to wear and tear.

The Warranty Direct policy I took out afterwards was much better. It covered pretty much everything and I got most of my money back within the first two months. 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

Thanks guys - interesting stuff.

Dealer came back to me about the suspension fault and said there were 2 codes:

1. height sensor - as mentioned by LR assist
2. Air compressor

He asked if I would authorise a further 1 hour of diagnosis - but said this should be covered under the warranty but needed my authority.

I will proabably wait to see what is covered and get that done and then arrange for my local inde to do the bushes if they are not covered.

The Select warranty replaced my rear diff a few months ago so it more than paid for itself... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
