Battery Life

Hi all, I need some advice from a more technically minded RRS owner. I have a 62 plate RRS HSE Luxury with 14000 on the clock. When we bought it it had a flat battery and was started with a power pack. It has run without problem for 4 months. Left it in the garage for 11days over Christmas and came back to a flat battery. Called out Land Rover Assist who started the car. Their technician showed me the drain on the battery when you open doors etc, just the action I take when valeting it.They suggested that I purchase a smart charger and leave the car hooked up when not in use. We are infrequent users of the car so having it in the garage for 2 weeks is not unusual. It is primarily used for towing our caravan. My question is just how long should you be able to leave a RRS before it will not start?

Varies a lot. My used to be exactly the same, dead flat if parked for more than couple of weeks and it had done 5k a year roughly towing or odd day out. I had same battery for seven years but resorted to smart charger to make sure it started. Down side is you can't go away for more than two weeks if you leave it at the airport Rolling with laughter 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

If you really wanted to leave it for over two weeks you could try a solar charger left on dash.

My sport lasted with no problems for periods of time. We definitely left it for 2 weeks (+ a few days either side) on holiday once.

Once you kill a battery, it will never be the same. you can recondition them to a degree...but they will never be as happy. Mike
