Kegworth 737 crash at 8.25pm Sunday 8th January 1989. I was travelling north lane 3 returning from a holiday. I was an off duty Combat Medic when it crashed in front of me. 3 1/2 hours in the wreckage......not very nice.
I now read on the internet that another motorist got 57K compensation for PTSD........shame I didn't think of that at the time.......would have paid for all the distress and inconvenience of not being able to fly again.

But hey ho I'm alive to tell the tale Exclamation

Just been reading the article on the BBC website and recalled that someone on here was involved in the rescue as a civilian as its 25 years ago today

Hi Nick,

Not been on here for years since I went to the dark side of trouble free motoring lol. So your post has brought me back. I didn't realise it was 25 years ago now! I still think it was only yesterday sometimes. TDV6 - gone

Having just read the report I still find it amazing that they still write it up that only one person risked his life to save others.

Well apart from me, there was also a coach full of lifeboat men and probably some other motorists who did the same.
I still would have liked a bit of compensation like the "sole hero" they bothered to mention in this report, as I still haven't flown for 25 years plus other factors like having to change my job.

Never mind eh TDV6 - gone
