Suspension warning light

Hi, hopefully someone can help. I have just recently gone back to RRS 2.7 Diesel and the suspension warning light is coming on. It flashes for a second saying something like "don't drive above 30mph". It flashes for a second and goes off. Nothing happens, doesn't lower or go to limp home mode.
I only use the car at weekends and this is the first time it has happened to me but my wife who uses the car during the week says it has happened to her a few times.
I should say the red warning light flashes when we are on the motorway doing a higher speed (not horsing it). She also says the light has come on when she drops kids at school, the road is a bumpy uneven road, but this time it is amber rather than red.

I have read through the brilliant forum for some advice but still not sure what it is that may be causing the fault.

Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

Hi, just to add, I was leaving my rugby club, started engine and the red suspension light came on and it felt as if the rear back left corner raised a little and went back to normal. Light was off, drove home about 6 miles and all ok.........not sure whats happening but want to try and get to the bottom of it before something seriously goes wrong, ta again. 2017 Range Rover Sport HSE

Is the compressor noisier than normal ( located just under car in front of n/s rear wheel ). This is a sign of a failing compressor. How long have you had the RRS & whats the mileage - most RRS will have at least 1 new compressor in its lifetime. Big Cry

Hi Peachy, just been for a drive monitoring the TV screen in 4x4 mode and I think I have an issue with the rear height sensor (I think!) when watching the screen the rear passenger looks to have a bit more movement than the others and then it will suddenly show as bottoming out, drops and the red minus sign flashes on the screen. Then a couple of seconds goes back to normal. When I go out and actually look at the wheel it is at normal height.
When I raise the suspension it raises no problem but won't go down, it starts then says "off road mode" or something like it.......
The only way to get back to normal height is drive above the speed setting (can't remember what the speed is) and it lowers.

Yes to be honest the compressor does sound noisy (I think, but not sure what level of noise should be) !!!!! The noise only comes when it is raised. Is that correct?
I will get it looked at this week, or is it easy to change sensor myself?

Thanks for help in advance 2017 Range Rover Sport HSE

The trouble with those Censored compressors is that there are so many stories on this site which have resulted in many different faults & fixes all around the EAS.The obvious route is to have your fault codes read & then take it from there. Hopefully it's a quick cheap fix. My compressor was on its way out when I purchased my RRS but being a novice I didn't know what was going on. It gradually got worse & my neighbour who is a RAC technician plugged in his box of tricks. We went straight for a new compressor. Whilst removing the old one we could see it was already Censored refurbished. The compressor got noisier & louder has it started to fail more often. It's been 2 years now & you can hardly hear the new one working.
Good luck Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Hi Peachy, I will get it to my buddy and get him to read the faults codes. By the looks of things it may well just be the sensor that is at fault but I defo have an issue with the compressor, if you say you cant hear it since you got a new one, so will get them booth done.
At least I have an idea as to what the fault is.

Is it a big job to change the compressor and sensor? I see them on ebay for a pretty decent price.

Ta

To be honest - never looked at changing the sensor - but the compressor if your mechanically minded is a relatively easy job. Take your time & be careful not to break the bracket it is cast so therefore pretty brittle. I believe there is a new make of compressor now that is far superior - the experts will be along in a bit to confirm or advise on the sensor.
If you do need a new compressor check that it's the new version Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............
