In case no one read my original poat, the reason I got myself in this Censored is because I left my dipped lights on. Apparently they should have turned off after a little while, and apparently the emergency battery cut off should have kicked in before she died completely, but none of this has happened Sad Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

Yep you would have thought they would have a booster, but just a regular charger.
With jump cables would the car start immediately ? Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

As long as you dont jump it from a Corsa/Micra, it will still take time but only a couple of minutes, been there!! Last thing you need although you., at lest , were expecting it Sad

Point on jump leads, quality does make a difference. Had a dead battery on the old TT, got some cheap leads and nothing, borrowed some beefy heavy duty ones and fired straight up Very Happy

Thanks guys! The RAC fixed it in end as the charger was taking ages (1 hour and still nothing but a couple of clicks from the starter) and the newborn was fed up so just wanted to get going!
Next step is to see if battery has been affected. Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

Glad you got it started. When a battery is completely discharged it often won't take any charge from standard charger but a smart charger will work by using a pulsed delivery. Batteries can survive total discharge or it can knacker them. The only way to find out is give it a complete conditioning cycle with a smart charger (CTEK brand is a good choice) and see how it goes.

Good luck Thumbs Up 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Thanks for that Paddie !I'll get the battery charged at the weekend and see how it goes. RAC gave it a boost, drove it all way home and it's been fine ever since but out of caution i'll give it a full charge. Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

Sounds like you might be ok, but as you say, best to double check.
Also would seem the alternator is working to charge it back up, so thats another good thing to know too Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

The RAC should be doing a Battery Capacity test , this gives a printout of they state of your battery and will tell you if the battery is ok but only needs a charge r if the battery is Kaput!!

I had the same recently with the alarm having gone off whilst we were away from the RRS for a few days..... New battery = £200.........

Hopefully just a few hours on the C Tek.....Make sure that you cycle it on the charger........

TST, Paddi also used the word "cycle", does that mean that I should recharge the battery fully (with say the CTEK) several times over a day/week?
Apologies if the question is a little amateurish ! Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

Just as Paddi mentioned the CTek cycles the battery charging sequence( if the battery is healthy) therefore the starting point is knowing that all the cells in the battery are good.sometimes there can be one weak cell in the whole battery.
Depending on which type of CTek you have the charging or conditioning cycle has to be selected.if you have the time , the battery would maybe benefit from a couple of ' cycles' that means after you connect initially it will show orange led then battery symbol part filled up, then over the charge Period it will go to 'full' and green led.If you have time do this twice.
The battery will be fully charged after this then run your RRS with no lights or as little electrics running as possible to allow the alternator to charge the at terry on a longish run at normal constant speeds.

Good luck,
