why don't you try and cut off some of the pipe and remake the ends off and see if that fixes it, there should be enough spare length for you to try it.

Some do some don't as long as the pipe is round and not mishapen it does not matter you could cut the ends at an angle, its the roundness of the pipes that makes the seal with an O'ring seal.
