MPG

So I've been running my new (to me) tdv8 for two weeks now with a mix of town and A road driving and the mpg average is 34. Is this usual as I was expecting a lot less. It has had a remap which might explain the higher than expected figure. What average do you get?

If thats the reading from the on board fuel computer then its telling porkys reset it and then try it ..or brim to brim fill and that will give you an accurate reading. I would say around 19 to 22 might be more accurate.

Flack Thumbs Up

Currently doing about 19 mpg solely town driving over the last couple of weeks. I'd expect this to return to mid 20s which is what I consistently get with a good mix or urban and M way.

Maybe you got the 1.6 and not the V8 Rolling with laughter FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

I know the on board computer is right - but like all good maths, its down to numbers!

A computer cant make the numbers up - its how it computes them, from averages, that gets you either a more accurate or less accurate (depending on your view) mpg over the period it monitors etc Thumbs Up Mike

I think its wrong unless all your driving is on a motorway at a constant 56 mph.

There is no way a TDV8 is giving 34mpg. The best I've ever had is 29mpg and that was driving at a fairly constant 50mph on a slow A-road run.

The best way to get a decent mpg reading is to do several runs at 3/4 to 1/4 showing on the fuel gauge. You need to do several runs to give you a suitable average.

I'd expect you to see no more than 30mpg even when driven like a nun on Prozac. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Hi, sorry to hijack this thread but I have a question that is in the same topic. Hope you don't mind? My new to me RRS TDV6 HST was remapped by Landrover (apparently). Questions are: is that even possible that Landrover would remap the car? D they do that? The previous owner told me that it was remapped to a 50/50 split of MPG and power gain rather than 100% power gain or 100% mpg gain. What does that equate to in theory.
Cheers 2014 RRS HSE, SVR body kit fitted.

To me, that equates that the previous owner is telling you porkies. Laughing I'd also be a little worried what other porkies he has told you about your new car in order for you to buy it. Shocked Land Rover don't offer remapping. Whistle

This appears to be a common misconception. You cannot remap a car for economy, it can only be remapped for performance but with additional torque comes the fuel efficiencies (when driven normally and not like you're hair is on fire)
