A colleague of mine has just taken delivery of a 2011 Discovery SDV6, but its a 6-speed (auto) model with the uprated 256PS engine. A combination which I was unaware of as I hadn't researched Discos.

Assuming this is correct, did any RRS TDV6s come with the 256PS engine, or was that only fitted when the 8-speed auto SDV6 RRS was launched? 2016 VW Golf GTD DSG

I think the SDV6 is 256bhp with 8 speed box and 245bhp with 6 speed box. RRS MY12 SE Siberian Silver, Ocean, Ivory and Walnut.
3.0 SDV6 256hp, 8 speed autobox with flappy paddles, Factory fitted options: Privacy glass, tow pack, heated seats, heated steering wheel, RSE, centre cool box, premium carpets, mood lighting,vision pack and memory pack.

BC Oh dear, what happened there... must be a typo! thanks for noticing.

Though sometimes we can run at 258 bhp....

This is how I understand it, however the dealer has told my colleague their car has the 6 speed 'box (it has the shift lever rather than the rotary dial) but the higher power output, 256.

It may be the case that Discos were available in this configuration, but I can't see that the higher output motor was related to cars with the 6 speed 'box, as that doesn't appear to have been the case at all for the RRS. 2016 VW Golf GTD DSG

I was aware of SDV6 disco's with the shift stick and 6 speed box, but not the RRS RRS gone
