Electric Garage Doors..

Due to the imminent arrival of my RS4.. im making a lot of changes to my house, security and convenience..

Just had quote from a bloke to come and fit some motors (this afternoon which was quite a surprise)..

We have 2x Cardale canopy garage doors, with side railing slider, which pivot the door up, no up and over rails.

He has said, for these we need Motor, £350 inc VAT & Fitting.
Bow Arm fitting, as its canopy door - £70 Inc VAT & Fitting.

Spoke to two/three different guys, and seems to be £350 is the norm.
Anyone else had these done or looked into it.. Bit short notice to start looking round other suppliers now, told him to come this arvo and fit one at least..

£420 per garage door, not as bad as i thought, but never know if ur getting ripped off or not, not as if i buy these things everyday..

Sounds good Kam Smile

One thought - can you trust this guy? He's not about to tell all his mates he's just done a motorised garage conversion for you and then in a week, suddenly your garage gets broken into? Confused Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

looks a good price. My unc's company would be asking £450+VAT per door fitted based on Hormann hardware (apparently good gear)

Hormann stuff is the best out there - period!

On all my homes i've lived in I have had these particular manufactures doors fitted - extremely quiet - well made & fully draught sealed. When you view the garage from outside at night with the lights on inside - you cannot see any escaping light at all - excellent.

Definately find out the make, makes a big difference to the price.
I have a Hormann opener, it is very quiet and compact compared to a lot of the cheaper ones.
I used Charnwood garage doors in Leics 0116 2600476 may be worth a call.

Thanks Chaps..appreciate the replies, and thanks for making the enquiry calls.

We have Cardale doors on our house, as this is coming out of my pocket, i didn't want to be changing the whole doors etc, so thought i should just go with the motor. considering they were able to come out so quickly..

Guy turned up, professional nice bloke, with proper big fat van, all sign written etc.. fitted the motor and arm thing to the door, took out the locks, powered her up.. and done. 2 remote fobs, soft close and open, about 200m range on the remotes, with clips for sunvisors etc.. brand of opener is: Marantec Comfort 220 with manual overide from inside.. emergency manual opener, and if someone tries to force it open, it activates and pushes back, also stops if it hits an obstruction.. mint by the sounds of it..

My CCTV camera system arrived today too, and my window and door alarms.. got some additional window and door alarms too.. there is not a cats hell chance anyone will get into our house at night with A) not being recorded, b) setting off a flood light c) setting off an alarm..

we had both our old crap doors replaced with nice green roller ones, fully automatic. Cost 2 grand all in. Was worth it though. Tried motors but they didn't have the strength to fully lift the canopy door.

Yes VA, he's five years old.

Called Sparky, the breeder was obviously a big fan of the Prodigy as she registered him at the Kennel Club as "The Fire Starter". Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. He is just a big bundle of fun who loves lots of fuss. Very protective of the kids though.

I pity any opportunist burglar that breaks into our house looking for my car keys. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.
