Hi Chaps I know there has been a few posts on this already. My Battery warning light came on intermittently yesterday ,I reckon I can hear a new whine from the engine bay and the Alternator housing was very hot to touch.

Thanks I will have a look in that section. I know this is probably another stupid question but thought I would ask anyway. When the Battery is Disconnected does this clear any Re-mapping that has been done on the vehicle. |

remapping wont be touched when disconnecting battery. If TDv6, then radiator doesnt need to be removed for the alternator change, Bodsys Brake Bible

TDV6 alternator can be done in around half an hour, if the car does not have Dynamic Response/ARC. |

Thanks again lads. My Sport is the TDV6 and has Dynamic Stability Control is this the same thing if so what is different about the changing of the alternator. Is it worth looking at a reconditioned unit or better to go for new unit, any help is very much appreciated. |

The DSC uses the ABS/TC systems, Dynamic Response/ARC has the fancy anti roll bars, and an oil reservoir next to the air filter

Thanks very much again Mikey. Removing the Alternater today and having it checked by a local Auto Electricians. And they have said the same Mate to go for a Genuine Denso Alternater which they are going to price me on if required. |

IIRC, a genuine alternator is around £250 + VAT. Try not to get screwed over |
