Quick update. Spoke to the dealer and they genuinely didn't know about the repair (pretty sure they would have just thrown away the invoice if they did!)

In my opinion buy an RRS is like overtaking - if in doubt don't.

Sag, as you say the warranty is a grey area, if your turbo's go pop, who do you think will pay for new ones? If L/R reflash your ecu which they often do due to updates, you will lose your modified map, as mapping your model requires taking out your ecu and mapping it on the bench, do you really want to be doing this with your motor everytime you take it to the dealers If your dealer suspects that you have had your motor remapped and you have a failure due to this which your mapper will argue the toss till the cows come home that it wasn't his fault, your dealer or L/R WILL void your warranty, L/R have spent millions in research to get these motors where they are today, do you honestly think that they would allow joe bloggs to undo all their research and tinker around with the ecu just to gain more power and still validate their warranty Its been know before for many manufacturers to void warranties due to such modifications. Its all about proving who's fault it is should you have a failure and i think you will find its the one with the deepest pockets that will win. No disrespect to you, but i don't think it will be you on this occasion. |

hhmm, ok, sounds like I need to think the remap through a bit first. I didn't realise that the LR dealer may just update the map themselves and over write it.

Some mappers are prepared to put the modified map back on for free should it get wiped, might be worth asking your mapper if he offers this service. |

Land rover are very clear a remap invalidates your warrant, if like me, your warranty is important, leave it. On the standard map Mike 2014 Facelift Discovery |

Ok, I may need to get friendly with the command shift! I used it a bit on the test drive and found I could just tap on of the paddles to activate it, but to put it back into 'D' do you just have to move the stick left and then right? I found from a proper stop, eg at traffic lights, take off was fine, but from a momentary stop or just crawling at low speed there was a bit of a delay. Not sure if this is gearbox lag or turbo lag. |

Anyone with a moderate amount of computer knowledge and cheap technology can produce remaps and remapped 'chips'.
