United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 SE Stornoway Grey
I'm Off

So, after two new Range Rover Sports in 6 years and 37 warranty issues between them I've had enough and am giving up on the Range Rover brand. it's a shame as when they are working well they are a great car but I don't need the hassle of constant calls to LRA and lots of visits to the dealer.

Don't post much on the forum but find it an invaluable source of information and wish all members well for the future and hope they have better luck with their Sports ownership than I have had to endure.

The final kick in the teeth happened this morning on my way to drop the Sport off ready to get my new car tomorrow. The Sport must have known it was getting the 'heave ho' as on staring up on came the 'gearbox problem' warning message. Tried the usual switching off, setting alarm, leave for 10 mins and have a cup of tea, start up but....message still there. So, switch off, disarm alarm, take of battery lead, leave for 10 mins, more tea, reconnect battery lead and b****r 'gearbox problem' message still there. Car now at dealers to sort warranty problem No. 38, thank god I took out the extended warranty to cover the Sport through to delivery of the new car.

One thing is sure, there is never a dull moment owning a Range Rover Sport Thumbs Up Long suffering RRS Owner, but I can't help it!

Doesn't sound uncommon. The problem is that LR won't recognise that they have build quality and durability issues but deal with it on a vehicle by vehicle basis rather than addressing the core issue.
Have had three sports since 2005, all bought new and each has been an unmitigated disaster in staying out of the workshop.
To pay 60 grand for a car then spend half your month running round trying to get things fixed, or spending hours on a phone getting LR to agree to this or that detracts from the joy and pleasure of owning a vehicle. But the car as you say, is unmatched when working, I have an L200 to use for work, an A6 Allroad before that which didn't go wrong, odd things failed but not on scale of a luxury car. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

Folk at Land Rover must read this forum. Why do they keep ignoring customers problems? It just doesn't make sense........

I know the tech's at my dealership often read this forum, but i'm not sure that dealer principles read it, perhaps thats where things are going wrong Shocked If anyone should be reading it, it should be Land Rover themselves Whistle Although we do have L/R customer services on here, but are they really making any difference????

They have a department that does nothing but monitor posts on Internet. Executive office at Customer Relations get feed back so I'm informed. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Both I suspect. But they are there to try and drop individuals in the soup rather than put their house in order. Using posts on web to defend claims isn't new technology. Had it with Vauxhall when sons VXR lunched a piston at 18000 miles. Played the its been on a track card. Yeh a VXR day at Bedford organised by Vauxhall Thumbs Up t**ts.
That will be 6 grand please. Only that the product manager read a post on forum did the car get engine replaced but only after Ecu had been checked and car inspected for mods. Missed the Miltek exhaust though Whistle
As long as punters walk in to dealerships and hand over money, nothing will change and punters will do the R&D that company can't in time before launch

As Clarkson says, "what do you expect from a car built in Brum by locals." His words not mine!!! 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Interested to know what you went for as I may follow your lead when the warranty expires on mine unless the new RRS replacement dramatically improves Lr reliability and they bring back customer service Rolling Eyes

Why is there such a big gulf in build quality between these cars? At the one end you have the original poster with his 30 plus problems, and at the other there is our company which in 15 years and over 300k miles between 2 discos,2 freelanders 1 evoque and my RRs, have had only 1 problem (fuel gauge needed a wire replaced)
Cheers

I think tbh its the same with any marque, and on forums we usually only get to hear about the bad points Whistle Just take a look how many new members join this site with their first post asking for help with a problem/

I was guilty of that Ady and have since tried to help others the information on here is mind boggling but LR should sort their Censored out and not leavie it to forums and their users as we would all be f Censored without them Thumbs Up Thumbs Up "Remember its easier to say sorry than it is to get permission " especially off the Mrs !!
