Should I service it before selling?

Hello chaps

I'll be selling my 06 diesel sport in the very near future. It's due a service - but it's the 7 year belt change. Should I service it at £700 or sell it as it is? It would be nice to have it perfect for the new owner, but will I just be throwing money away by doing so? Basically will I see the £700 back in the selling price?

Thanks

I doubt you'll see the £700 back on the seeling price, but I bet you'll get knocked more than that for not having it done. A bit of a 'rock and a hard place' situation if you ask me Sad ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Bonatti Grey

When I was recently shopping for a RRS, I was asking the sellers if the car's had just had their 7 year service/cambelt, as I only wanted a car that this had this carried out. I didn't want to be buying a car that needed £700+ spending on it straight away.

As Beancounter said, you are stuck between a rock and a hard place. On the plus side, if you do it then it'll look inviting in the advert for selling the car, on the negative side it is a few quid to shell out when you are selling the car. Current: 06 RR Sport HSE TDV6, Bonatti grey, black leather. Defender 90 pick up. Vito 110cdi

Previous: Mercedes CLS, BMW 330cd M sport, Nissan 200sx, Impreza STi, EP3 Civic Type R

It will be a great plus point to a buyer and yours will be top of the list for people to view. I say do it. Your more likely to get more than £700 less offered to you without it done!

If I was buying a car that was at the age that a belt change was due, I'd rather pay less and have it done myself so I know it's been done. I'd want proper evidence it'd had been done otherwise - such as checking with the garage etc. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
