Front Suspension Arms & Bushs 2007 RRS TDV8

Hi folks.

I've just registered with the forum today and made my introductions on the welcome page. Forum looks great. Looking forward to using a lot this year.

I've got a ' 07 RRS TDV8 and I'm encountering the inevitable problems associated with the suspension, more specifically the front suspension arms and bushs. They're not completely done at this stage but they are close to needing replaced. Rather than going to my local dealers and being charged a complete fortune, generally what I do is buy the parts in myself and get my local land rover registered mechanic to do the work.

Does anyone have any good ideas as to where I could source these parts for reasonable money?

Many thanks guys, any help is much appreciated.

cant really help but Duckworths on the site sponsor list are really well priced and offer free postage if you mention you are on the forum Usually shipped same day.

If it were me I would just ask a local LR specialist (non dealer) to quote for supply and fit as Im sure they will be cheaper than LR stealer!! TDV8 HSE, Remap (+45 BHP + 100 Nm), Taylored sport exhaust system by Pipe Werx

Thumbs Up for Duckworths. For critical suspension parts it's genuine Land Rover all day. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Rolling with laughter True enough. LR have upgraded the AR bushes for sure and I think also the suspension arm bushes but in keeping with LR tradition the new parts are still s Censored t but not quite as s Censored t as they were before. There are aftermarket polyurethane bushes available but IIRC someone posted to say these produced such an unbearably harsh ride they reverted to standard bushes. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Yeah, I'm definitely going with genuine LR suspension parts. I'm getting quoted £413 for 2No. Front suspension arms and related bushs from my local LR dealer and £336 for labour..........bloody hell!! A total of nearly £900.

I have to change the tyres too.....Christ it's going to be an expensive February!!

Any good advise for rubber?

If you are getting the familiar knocking noises from the front suspension you could always try just renewing the ARB bushes first to see if that solves the problem. Regarding the suspension arms most garages simply order new arms complete with bushes because it is the quickest and easiest way. However it is possible to renew the bushes in your present arms but the garage needs to have the expertise and a suitable press or extraction and replacement tool to do it. This would be less expensive in parts but obviously a bit more labour cost is involved.

The two most popular tyres on this forum are Toyo Proxes T1 Sport SUV and Hankook Ventus. Have a look on these suppliers's sites: Black Circles, MyTyres.co.uk and Camskill. These supplier's prices are VERY much lower than the KwikFit rip-off merchants and will send you the tyres by next day courier and all you have to do is get them fitted locally by a fitter with whom they have an arrangement. As an example I recently bought 4 Toyos for £611 delivered.
Hope this helps. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Thanks for recommendations there lads. Its very much appreciated.

The part Nos. of the two front suspension arms for the tdV8 are LR029303 & LR029305 (as listed in the quote from my LR dealer).

Does the LR029304 part actually fit the tdV8 then?? That is a considerable saving from the £183.55 price LR quoted me for one suspension arm.

I might try getting the bushs changed first to see if that solves the knocking noise. Much cheaper alternative!!

Thanks again lads.

Looks as if LR029304 is a pattern part made by Allmakes which is why it is cheap. As said before I am not happy using pattern parts for critical components. Recommend speak to Dan at Duckworths about the bushes if you are going to renew the bushes in your existing suspension arms. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

LR029304 is the genuine LR number, but the parts listed on those sites are pattern alternatives.

a genuine LR029304 would be £139+VAT Sophie Alltoft
