Got rear screens on my MY12. I want to load a bunch of movies onto a USB stick and plug it into my RRS so that I can search through and choose a movie to play for the kids, much like you might save a load of mp3 music tracks onto a usb stick.

I put an MP4 video on a usb stick and plugged it didnt recognise any movies. Maybe it doesn't like mp4 so I'm in the process of converting it to DivX to try that.

Has anyone tried or succeeded to watch video via usb?

I also tried avi/DivX and WMV formats but none worked. So is the USB option under "My Video" simply a red herring?

Thanks for the reply. We seem to have different handbook versions. Did it change for 2012 cars? My pg117 is on Radio and pg125 is on Portable Music Players. Maybe the details on formats was "enhanced" out in my version?

Do you have chapter titles so that I could check that way instead?

Also, you say it worked with a VOD file on your USB. I wasnt aware that .VOD was a video format; isnt it just a method for obtaining streaming media? There is a section in my manual about obtaining VOD from DIVX's streaming media service, but thats a paid-for service, not same as taking own movies on flashdrive.

Yes it's from the latest version for the 2013my car.

Downloaded the latest manual from Topix and it's the same information as mine, just in different page numbers. Basically there's nothing that lists video file compatibility, only audio files. I'll have to contact landrover to enquire whether possible and if so what format/how.

Ill try it again on Tuesday...i used one of the movies i had so it was likely a .WMV - have you tried that on a correctly formatted USB? Mike

Hi

Took me ages to work this out when I tried.
I had to plug the USB stick in the rear connection and select the files from the stick using the rear controller.

I will check what format the video is in.

Anyone else any success with this? I can get files on a USB stick to play on the front screen, although not all the time, but can't get the same file to play on the rear screen. It can see the file, but after a second or so it comes up with track error. I can't believe they have a different solution or support differenct for front and back. Quite disappointed that I can't play from the front USB to the rear screens too. What were LR thinking of? It works fine from a real DVD, so why not from a USB?

Also, anyone any success from different formats? I've seen somewhere that MP4 is supported, but can't find anyone who actually got it to work.

I'll have a play over the next few days and will post some results.

P.S. I have a MY2014 RRS, so might be a bit different.
