Blanked mine around 4K miles ago. Runs not much different to be honest but the service guys have stopped reporting (costly) issues with the EGRs now they are gone.

I've been told the light will never come back on and it seems to run a lot smoother...... |

I think the best place to blank it of is between the EGR and Exhaust manifold, that way you will avoid hot/dirty exhaust gases to get in touch with the unit. BAS doesn’t do it there, they use the pipe from the EGR valve to the intake (and one on the intake), but this is how I will do it at least, it will be a bit more work but will last much longer.

Also worth remembering, Pete Bell (BAS) is also working on a patch that will shut the EGR valves perminantly. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures

That would be great, but then it would also be worth mentioning when Pete will be ready and what it will cost, or? RRS SDV6 HEV Dynamic XKR 700 BHP with Twin-screw and LSD |

Am checking regularly, but no codes, not even pending ones.

Even when you blank them off, the EGR valves need to stay operational, otherwise you will get some errors. So if you have a faulty valve now it has to be fixed, as blanking them of will not make a difference (unless of course you have already P0401 errors...). RRS SDV6 HEV Dynamic

If Pete finally finish the software patch then no need to replace the faulty egr, but big question would be if the patch is cheaper than the egr replacement? Pete did mention once that the remap would need to be updated aswell if I remember correctly, I am thinking it must possible to trick the engine management that the faulty erg is working by freeing the egr motor from the valve or pluging the loom into a working egr, tied away under the engine insulation. Because the main challenge would be to pass MOT with tougher test requirements after April! This is al worst case scenario with the better acesss after removing egr pipes I think one should be able to clean the valve somehow and prevent it failing? |

Best would be a software solution, and I might investigate that one later. But there is nothing now, no commitment from anyone to solve it soon, so not a lot of options.

I ordered the EGR blanking kit for my 2006 RRS from Bell Auto Services (excellent guys!). The shop here in Netherlands took 2 hours to remove the EGR pipes, clean the engine and mount the blanking kit. According to the shop holder it took them only 10-15 minutes to unmount the pipes, but cleaning the engine took the most time..! Works like a charm, so very happy about this solution. Thanks. Only thing I notice is that the fuel consumption shows 6 km/liter on my display (dashboard), while I used to get around 10 km/liter. The car feels like it's actually driving alot better. Could the reading be off on the board computer because the EGR is now blanked off? Have not driven lots of miles on it yet since installment so reading might change. |

Remind me again how does the coolingmist work, because cleaning the parts I took out was very difficult , oil and soot mixture forms a grease/ tar deposit, would have liked to clean the inlet manifold on each bank of cilinders but it's part of the tappetcover so to much involved but could see additional flaps in each track and all surfaces covered in the deposit, interesting the deposits only start after the ports of the egr pipes in the inlet track in the direction towards the cilinders so clealy comming from the exhaust gasses. |
