Sumatra Black Color Description

hi,

i noticed Santorini black disappeared from the list of color options for the RRS this year due to the Japan supply issue. can someone help me understand the tone and metallic differences between Santorini Black and Sumatra Black?

thank you! 2012 Range Rover Autobiography Sport - SC - Sumatra/Tan/Ebony

I can't tell you the exact differences between the two, as i havent seen them side by side. I can tell you that Sumatra Black, has quite a significant metallic flake in it, which means the car looks like a dark charcoal colour in direct sunlight.

My wife wanted solid black, but I do like the Sumatra black Cool ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
MERCEDES GL350 - Metallic Navy Blue w/Grey interior

GOING: BMW F31 335D MSport+ xDrive Touring
GONE: Land Rover Discovery 4 HSE - Stornaway Grey w/Black Interior (wish we'd kept it Banging Head )
GONE: BMW F10 520D MSport - Carbon Black
GONE:MY12 RRS SDV6 HSE Sumatra/Ivory/Grand Black Privacy glass

thanks for the quick response!

when you look at sumatra in the sun, does it have any color hues to it? for instance, Carbon Black Metallic from BMW has a purple/blue in it, Jerez Black Metallic literally looks super dark blue in the sun, while Black Sapphire Metallic has a silver-like metallic flake in it which makes it look more metallic gray/charcoal without any hues.

coming from the BMW world, i realized what i like more is the more neutral black (either a straight black or neutral metallic black).

thanks for the input! 2012 Range Rover Autobiography Sport - SC - Sumatra/Tan/Ebony

Not sure if it makes any difference to the black colour at all though, at least not that i can see.

No, no colour hues, just silver flake. I know what you mean about carbon black, but the metallic just serves to lighten the black, hence making it look like a charcoal colour in the light.

I think if you light the neutral blacks, it will be what you're looking for Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
