Door seals on a MY2011

I'm still having problems with my window seals ,Foxy was good enough to send me a few photos of hers for comparison.
Could anyone else with a MY11 please send me a photo just like this with either a business or credit card pushed in to the U shaped slot with the window either fully up or preferably half way showing how the seal closes as the glass comes up?
This is the bad one with a 4mm gap with glass up:

This is a good one with no gap and how they should be:

This is Foxy's showing how hers closes up as the window pushes the 2 seals together closing the gap.

And here showing the tiny gap rather than my 4mm chasm.

Interesting to see the difference from the front window which not only has a huge gap but its not even linear here showing how many business cards fit in the gap:

With the rear window which although better having a close linear gap still isn't sealed like Foxy's:

Looks pretty conclusive to me.
I'd take it to your dealer and get it checked out.
If they quibble then you can always compare it with
another RRS in their showroom. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black
2013 Evoque 5 Door Pure Tech SD4 - Orkney Grey with Panoramic Roof (Mrs E's new baby)

GONE - RRS - 3.0 TDV6 HSE - Santorini (2010)
GONE - RRS - 2.7 TDV6 HSE - Java Black (2007)
GONE - Porsche Boxster S - 3.2 - Black

That's the problem the dealer is saying that all the ones on their forecourt are the same,my argument is that that's their problem I want mine as they were designed to be i.e. sealed once the window is up just like Foxy's. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Sorry

Im not sure where you mean.

Do you mean the gap between the seal that touches the glass and the black trim on the outside of the car that effectively runs front to back

Eg the bit where your cards are sat in?

If so, there should be a gap there, not being a gap is wrong.

Mine has the gap - tollerance a little off one one rear window - i asked the neighbour as he was out giving me off looks and he said he thought mine was correct (and i hope he knows as he is one of the designers!!)

So it might be that foxy's is wrong - if we are talking about the same place Mike

Hey Chris

Just been to my dealers on way home and had a look my windows are correct and the ones on their turf are the same as mine.

Do you want to borrow my car to show them> I know what you mean with the gaps. If you want I need to come to Shatton actually at some-point next week to drop a birthday card off and present off.
Would you like to meet me at the garage so you can show them? I dont mind. Smile

Mike,
There is a square channel seal on the outside of the glass, when the glass is down the channel is open,as the window goes up it pushes the edge next to the glass over therefore closing the gap and making a seal.
Therefore when the glass is fully up there should only be a small gap between the two.
One mine not only is the gap huge it's not even straight.
Where I live is under a canopy of trees so when they shed pollen and seeds the gap will just fill up with plant material and airborne grit.No way on this earth should it be like mine.
On our new BMW X6 the seal is almost identical and works perfectly, why on earth would you design a seal with a 4mm gap???

Foxy,
I've got a tentative appointment to discuss the position with the Service Manager this Friday afternoon if by then he has got an official response from LR to my photos,if that is postponed to next week it would be great to take yours in to compare if you could on the way back to the M1 Thumbs Up MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Not the bodyshop, the supplying dealer are picking mine up and leaving me a car for 2 days, last time they left me an AB so I'm just hoping this time it's a FF,knowing my luck it will be a Freelander.

Had a lightbulb moment last night, what about filling the U shaped gap with something just to stop the pollen etc filling up the trough, not sure how or what would do it given it is tapered, anyone got any ideas on what material they could fill it up with?
I've got some great sticky backed foam and if it was square that would do it but it would be almost impossible to cut that to match the taper.

Anybody work doing double glazing who could send me about 2m of black window seal to try? MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.
