LPG conversion for a RRS Supercharged

Hi folks, I have a 2006 RRS Supercharged and have heard been told various accounts of the cars ability to be converted for LPG. Does anyone know if it can be done, or not ?

Thanks

hello Cubbyno9

I have recently looked into this, I already have a 90 gassed, but after speaking to four or five specialists. They advised the head needs hardened valve seats, else they will go into recession, giving the engine only a 20-30k miles life.
Have a look at the info below
http://www.jeengineering.co.uk/products/lpg-conversions.html
It is correct i have done a bit of research, I thought initially it was a way of getting more money out of the customer, but the head work is required on the sc.
One reputable converter said they would convert for me but i would have to sign a disclaimer as it will ruen the engine without the head modifying
hope this helps

Hi Shepp,

Thanks for the prompt reply. Oh well that's that out the window then.
I will just live with it, have to say I love the car so just a pain to put up with.

Thanks again.

I looked into this a few years ago, but decided that it wasn't worth the effort.
In addition to the hardened valve seals, there is an issue with where to put the LPG tank. Normally it would be mounted where the spare wheel sits, but as this is at an angle on the RRS it wouldn't be possible to use the fuel gauge, and the tank can only be filled to 80% which means that you could only get a limited mileage before a refill.
I didn't really want to take up any space in the back of the car.
I've also heard that LPG can dry out the supercharger bearings (not sure if it's true or not).
So, 5 years later, and I'm still using good old petrol.
Over 50k miles, I calculate LPG would have saved me c.£6k at today's fuel prices. This is not far off the cost of fitting LPG, including having the cylinder heads done, but it's an awful lot less hassle.
Of course, higher mileage would make it a more cost effective option, but then wouldn't it be a more sensible option to buy a more economical car if you were doing really high mileages?
Bob.
