TDV8 vs TDV6 - Performance Difference With High Ambient Temp

Landrover claim the performance of the TDV6 is close to the TDV8, however I have noticed that when the ambient temperature is greater than 30 C the performance of the TDV8 drops substantially. Not having the TDV8 in colder climates may be OK but I think that the performance difference between the two in a hot climate may be more substantial than most people realise.

It would be interesting to compare the performance between the TDV6 and the TDV8 on a hot day. I think there may be a substantial difference bewteen the two.

Now that you have to buy the SC version to get Dynamic Response unless you are prepared to buy the TDV6, the line up here in Australia and other hot climates is flawed in it's execution. Bring on the 4.4TDV8.

But the TDV8 is no longer available and will not in the future be fitted to a RRS - FFRR only.

Wishful thinking I think - the 4.4 will not fit in the D4/RRS engine bay without major sheetmetal work which is not going to happen with the current vehicle.

Any turbocharged car will suffer more as the ambient heat increases.

It then comes down to intercooler efficiency

My Impreza with a top mounted intercooler would lose massive amounts of power in the summer (25degs+)

The front mounted intercoolers fair better mind you... RRS gone
Audi SQ5...Gone Audi Q7 S-Line 240 3.0TDI Gone
Audi A6 Allroad Sport 270 3.0TDI
