My car is an 08 still under manufacturers warranty, 26000 miles
The seat is only just starting to go, however it will not get any better, the dealer says it's not an issue and refuses to pursue it any further.

Any ref no/repair no/ would be handy, I need some ammo.

2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Zermatt Silver

Whilst feeding the leather on my seats, I noticed a 3" split on the side of the drivers seat, just above and behind the seat controls.
On close inspection, it looks like this panel isn't leather........it looks like a thin vinyl with a sort of fabric backing.
Btw, I'm not overweight, and even though the car is 5 years old, it has only done 50k miles. It has regularly been treated with leather wipes, and has been kept in the garage (so the vinyl hasn't got brittle in the cold).
I've tried repairing it with a vinyl repair kit, and it's holding for now, but I want to do a more permanent repair.
I've contacted the spares dept., and they have quoted me £383.04 for a new base cover.
The thing is, I don't want to pay out that amount of money, and find that I can't remove the old one to replace it.
Does anyone know how to remove/replace the seat squab? I've looked, and it isn't that obvious, but It may only be a couple of clips.....or it could be a seat-out job. I just don't know.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Bob.

Apparently its a common problem, I had mine changed this week at Chipperfield landrover Thumbs Up 3 weeks before the 3 year warranty expires, with 25k on the clock.

O.k., so I'm making progress on this........
I raised the seat to it's highest, front and rear.
Under the front, there are two T40 bolts, and another 2 at the back.
Release the cable clips, and seat heater connection, and it comes straight out.
I didn't have any problems unclipping the cover around the edge, but I've hit a wall now with the little wire rings that hold the seams tight into the seat-base. I have no idea how to get them out.........do I cut them with wire cutters? If so, does the new cover come complete with these clips?

I just phoned LR Customer Relations (hoping for a contribution towards the new seat cover).
They say that they wouldn't be interested, because it's a "wear and tear part", and they haven't heard of any such problems with this vehicle.

Cover now ordered..........
As for the metal rings, the guy in the parts dept. said the mechanics in the workshop don't use the metal rings, they use cable ties.
So that's what I'll use.

Unfortunately I don't have any paperwork to help you with but I got mine replaced under warranty on my previous car at over 2 years old with about 50K miles on it.they tried to tell me it was my weight and ingress technique.

Sorry guys I am unable to give you any reference numbers regarding the replacement seat cover. The work was carried out under warranty and no paperwork was given to me when I collected the car.

I can't see how Landrover can deny this being a problem with the RRS as I was told it was a common issue even with the Disco and Freelander.
