You don't need a sports car in Cyprus. The road isn't that long. Defender is about right or soft top Wrangler for fun and flexability, especially on those untarmaced mountain roads with no crash barriers. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

Where exactly do you think I'm going Josh?

I'm not going to the Maldives you know!

Last time we were there, we saw quite a few (NON TAXI) E-Class, 5's as well as a load of pick ups (Excise duty dodge - Commercial vehicle) but can't bring myself to buy a L200. Navarra's not TOO bad looking though.

There is a Porsche dealer on the island. Was looking at a past article on the Cayman......... Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

My mate has a L200 Pick up with a rear roof top on the load carrier area.. decent enough cars if u spec them up, cheap as chips too over there.. Nissan Navara isn't too bad at all, with all the kit on it..

I think we've decided!

Talked this through with Mrs ST this weekend and we think it'll be...............

A Mini Cooper S (Possibly Works) but probably not a cabrio. It's just too f Censored g hot in the summer!

As a 1600cc it attracts small excise duty.

Might also opt for the auto as

i) I'm a lazy git who has had autos for the past 4 yrs or so and love them
ii) The Cooper S auto is a full and proper auto, not the CVT fitted to my mums non-S Cooper. Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Excise duty approx. £1,300 with VAT @ 15%.

Shouldn't be too expensive but great fun too! Thumbs Up Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

My choice too! Thumbs Up I expect my fee for the suggestion. BTW do not get the special sports seats, they are very uncomfortable and restricks access to the back seats and you have to have the side air bags disabled! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Do I have to pay for that bit of advice as well or is it on a 'One piece of advice, get one free' basis? Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Mini cooper S.. works? nice choice mate..

Good twaz mobile as my brother in law would call it.. meaning you can twaz it round as its very nimble and fun to drive.. not that u would look like a twaz in it or anything.

Now you just have to decide what colour scheme to get.. i quite like the graphite grey colour, but as its going to cyprus, something bright and firey would probably look the best!

Problem is I probably would look a twaz in it with my head hunched down and elbows out of each of the front windows!

Only problem with Works is insurance (Altho' I believe it's quite a bit cheaper in CY as car crime is virtually unheard of)

170bhp is probably enough for CY. Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

170bhp in a mini definitely.. the new one is out pretty soon, apparently got a lot more bhp too... my mate has one on order.. think nov/dec 2007 is when his arrives, he has a new cooper s coming..
but thats after u leave isn't it super T.. so the current one will have to do.. remember to get the one with the chilli pack, otherwise u'll burn ur ass off inside the car! but its probably standard on the S isn't it..

Found some new car prices on t'internet today:

RX-8 Hi-power CY£19,700 (UK£24,172)
Cooper S CY£14,900 (£18,282)
A3 1.6i CY£14,700 (£18,037)
BMW 116i + spec. CY£16,200 (£19,877)

This car duty is a killer!

I think a second hand one might be order of the day but a Cooper S is looking like the prime candidate at the moment but would definitely need to add chilli pack. Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad
