I havent completed any serious electrical checks for this fault yet but thought i'd just get this one out there.
offside Rear brakelight not working (tail-light is working)
Purchased new P21/5w bulb.
Took out old bulb (tail-light filament looks good, brake filament looks failed)
fitted new bulb (didnt check if light was functioning after... duh)
noticed soon after that offside tail light and brake light are not working
take out new bulb and refit old bulb.
still nothing working
cant see if there is a specific fuse for each side but i do know that fuse 15 (15amp) is the ciurcuit for the brake switch and brake lights. . . i know that cos i burned it out while fannying about switch in and out bulbs
(btw, what a damn awkward place to put fuses, never mind trying to get at the spare fuses! )

getting out the multimeter tomorrow evening after work.
Anyone had similar issues or fault with bulb holders?

P.S why the hell is there no dash warning indicator to show a rear lamp has failed! or any other lamp for that matter. Fairly standard kit now on most cars. i've had it on every BMW i ever owned.

yip.. fuses alright.
mind you them fuses are in some awkward spot.
