auto on headlight sensitivity

Hi everyone

Does anyone know if the auto on headlights can be adusted?

I don't know if it is just me,but on dull rainy days FFRRs,Discos and Sports alll seem to be the last to light up.

I also noticed while following my next door neighbour's 3L Sport along a part of the road which is overhung with trees ,his switched on and mine didn't.

I kind of concluded that Landrover had similar thoughts and had modified the lights to suit.

All the best Kiel Kiel

I don't think you can do that.

The automatic headlamps are activated under the following conditions:

*Twilight
*Darkness
*Rain
*Snow
*Tunnels
*Underground or multistoried car parks.

The automatic headlamp operation uses ambient light levels which are monitored by photodiode incorporated in the rain/light sensor. You might have to replace the photodiode in the sensor if you want to adjust the "auto". Smile Malaysia Boleh!

It isn't possible on any year of RRS - I tried to get it done for my 2007 as I agree the system leaves it way too late to turn them on. I now don't use the auto-on I switch the lights to dipped whenever i start the car and run al;l the time on them instead. I wish LR would look into it because it is crazy to be left lampless even after sunset if you leave the lights in auto mode.

BTW if you have a 2010MY or later then the LED's can now be reprogrammed to stay on but as mentioned you also get the dipped beam on too which spoils the effect. Also the LED's are not legal for use as daylight running lights - they are not bright enough, which was one reason a dealer gave me for not wanting to light up the front of my FFRR for me! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

So is there a law that states what wattage the daytime running lights have to be? If so, then land rover have cocked up with their fairy lights if they are deemed not bright enough, if thats what your stealer is saying, 2011 new law for daytime running lights an all that. Question
