Its been -9 here for 2-3 weeks and despite running 50/50 screenwash my washers are frozen solid
Front, rear and headlamps all non functional

I can hear the relay click when I hit the button but theres no sound from the motor

Now I admit the car has only had light use for 2-3 weeks, and nothing longer than a 20 minute run
I need to do a 4h trip later in the week, will the heat generated by the engine eventually thaw it out do you think or is there a likely sweet spot for me to attack with a hairdryer?

As absolutely nothing works my favourite theory has to be the whole reservoir frozen solid, but if so it should thaw out if I run the car for a few hours?

50/50 mix way too weak at that temp, you need to run neat. Also engine heat does nothing to warm up the bottle when driving as the bottle is in front. If you do get it thawed out vent out the weak stuff and get much richer stuff in there, don't forget to flush the stuff through. Also don't take the figures on he screen wash container as gospel, the stuff I use is rated to -15c but doesn't work in a D3 under -11c.

I spent 9 hours running yesterday on journey from south coast yorkshire. Washer did not defrost once and i have a real high concentrate. When your moving, the sheer wind chill factor stops any additional heat from the engine. This 2.7 struggles to keep itself warm, let alone let excess heat go!!.

In short, i would keep a squirty hand held bottle in the drinks holder. SWMBO did a stirling job

I lost mine for a whole week... Only thing to do is get it in a garage and put a parafin heater under the nearside front corner for the night.... or two....

Then empty the reservoir and put neat wash in....

Have neat screenwash in at the moment and that froze up on Monday once the outside air got to about -10, with the wind chill of 70mph on the M50 it was likely a shedload colder than that

More worryingly, when they did work at about -8, once the screen was clear the moisture froze instantly, I had to put the heated screen on so I could see !!

Colleague has suggested pouring a litre of antifreeze in the bottle, he's using it in his car at the moment and it seems to be working. Hi soundslike you got same problem as me when i pushed the washer button heard a click no motor sound ....fuse had blown located behind lower glove box fuse number F18.. 5amp Hope that helps...

5 Amp?? In D3 it's a 15A, updated from 10A.

If you have room put neat winter wash in. It may just be enough to thaw and seep throught the system. Have seen other posts where thay put in hot water from a kettle and putin an aqaurium style water heater!!!! Now - MY11 RRS Autobiography TDV6, Orkney gray, tints, steps, daylight running lamps and allllll the toys!!!

-1 this morning so I drove it 10 mins to work and its now working again

I have drained the tank and will refill with more concentrated solution

I believe in the old days before Global Warming when winters were always this cold people used radiator mufflers or the less affluent blocked the radiator grille with aluminium foil or cardboard - neither foil nor cardboard is very elegant but they do the job of restricting the icy blast of air through the plastic front grill and helps your engine warm up more quickly on a cold morning once you have got moving. I know you can buy proper waterproof mufflers for a Defender (they are also used to stop really muddy water clogging the radiator fins if you are wading through muddy bogs and water) I doubt anybody has got round to making one for any of the more delicate and prettier models - I suspect there isn't much demand for them normally! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

You are right DSL just looked in the manuel Fuse no: 11 15Amp Washer Pump Fuse 18 is 5Amp but its for rain sensor/light senser....... Still aint got no water though
