EXTENDED WARRANTY

I have just had my RRS S/C serviced by Lr at a cost of £1,000 anyhow when i was settling the bill they suggesting putting a 12 month warranty on the car for £990 for piece of mind. Does anybody have any feed back on Land Rover warranties or if they are worth the money or is there any other decent companies out there!

Is you car still under LR warranty?

If not id be interested in knowing who offered you this warranty since LR told me i couldn't have one if i wasn't already covered and about to expire.

I had Tyres fitted at the same time so its not as drastic as it sounds. In relation to a warranty my car has expired but as long as you put the car through an approved used check they will be happy to put an extended warranty on!

Ours is a lot cheaper per year, and provides up to £60ph labour charge.
Also covers all electrical/mechanical issues if the car has covered less then 60k miles and is under 5 years old.
We have other levels of cover available too:

From £375 per annum.
Free roadside for 2 year or more policies.

domy123, are yo sure?

I asked LR UK about this and offered to have my 29k mile RRS S/C fully inspected by LR techs but it made no difference, the only way i could have a warranty was if it was covered already and i was about to extend. If it was expired (no matter how long ago) it would not qualify, they were 100% adamant that i couldn't have one, not even a quote for one.

Hi Kam, I have looked at your warranty but looking at claims limit, items covered and labour limits its not really suitable for a Range Rover Sport. Current 2007 RRS S/C HST Premium Edition

Claim limit is PPOV (purchase price of vehicle/cap guide price) on anything under 3,000cc.
For anything over that it's £2,500 per claim, unlimited number of claims, and no excess per claim.
The platinum covers all mechanical and electrical items.
£60ph labour rate (up to £70 in certain cases) means it will cover all independents, however you will need prior authorisation before going to main dealers. They pay direct too, or can pay you back on initial payment, whichever you prefer.

Roadside is with Mondial, who i believe used to do LR's own road side recovery, we pass that on at cost price with a top up if you want to upgrade to european cover from the usual UK and Home start.

Misery

I had an insurance policy (GAP) with AA and when i asked them to transfer it to my RRS S/C they wouldn't because they have just introduced a cap to all of their products which limits engine size to 3500cc.

I asked about the AA Gold Warranty and they advise that this was also included in the cap so i doubt AA will offer LR the warranty.

Mercedes Benz use Mondial and allow a purchase as long as the car falls within mileage limits etc so i had hoped LR would do the same, buy LR being LR they don't. Its the one down side to RR ownership, knowing that no matter what the customer service @ LR will be crap.
