It is a very common problem Hugh, but having said that I never suffered it on my recently departed 2007MY TDv8 HSE. One of the problems is that the squeek will not go away, usually it is only dirt in the system if you have been offroad in the mud and wading BUT if you haven't then it can be more serious and the pads in the EPB have become worn and moved out of position - eventually you will not be able to release the EPB (most folks don't let it get that bad though!) I would say £65 is pretty reasonable as that is less than the cost of the labour for an hour (and often an hour is the minimum charge!) If you think it should cost less then there is no reason why you cannot take the car to a non-franchised specialist. Unfortunately I don't know of any down your way but there are 2 excellent companies up here in the Central Belt -
