Should dealer have advised that brakes were wearing thin ?

My RR SPort was serviced by the main dealer at 29400 miles

On reaching 39500, I noticed a "grinding"noise from the rear of the car. Inspecting the discs, I note that the driver's rear wheel disc is badly scored

Question: assuming this is due to the brake pad wearing thin, should the dealer have warned me about this ? What recourse to I have against the dealer ?

Any advice gratefully received Smile

I doubt they looked that bad 10,000 miles ago.
My pads only lasted 20,000 miles so 10,000 would only look like half worn!

I noticed that the sport has one wear sensor front & back at different sides, for some reason my pads had both worn more on the sides that didn't have the sensors fitted....go figure!

I changed my back ones before the sensor activated and the pads were almost 'metal on metal' on the other side. Pads were far worse on the front when the sensor actually activated!!!

Not sure if yours are ready to change at the front or the back but when you do change them its worth having a look at the other end of the car too......mine lasted no more than 6 weeks longer at the back than the front.

Hope this helps

Agree with above.

Must haver a good dealer normally most dealers want you to change the pads as soon as it goes in the garage

Thanks guys

Still have the question "is my dealer responsible for pointing this out ?". The car definitely hasn't flagged up any messages about replacing brake pads

No chance- it was 10,000 miles ago Rolling Eyes Confused

IIRC under the road traffic act - we are all responsible for the state of our vehicles when driving them - just like an MOT means nothing once you have left the garage ....

+1

10000 miles ago dealer not responsible. It is up to all of us to ensure our vehicles are safe / road worthy.

Wifes car brakes started squealing today - pads need changing - dealer did advise 2 tears ago but ignored at the time. Saved 2 years worth of expense. Will be changed on Monday before metal on metal ! MY10 TDV6 HSE, Alaska White, Ebony with Contrast, Park Heat, Paddle Shift, Privacy, Heated Steering Wheel, Extended & Premium Leather,
