A few years ago I was working on an industrial estate on the outskirts of Glasgow, half way through the job we got diverted to fitting anti-tamper switches to all tha BT manholes in the estate, at £1000+ per manhole it was not cheap but they did catch the little scrotes that were pinching them. Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

We had 2 old underground petrol tanks adjacent to one of our properties on council owned land which were filled
with water & had a square manhole cover approx 2ft sq on each of them. When the manager of our site called me one day to say she had caught kids who had ripped out the covers from the ground leaving gaping holes in to black water I told her not to worry as the tanks would have further caps which were probably just covered by water and that the kids would not be able to get into the tanks themselves. However, I got our handyman to check this and to our horror there were no other caps just 2 ft sq openings straight into the tanks!! I contacted the local council - who immidiately stated it was not their responsibility but the landowners - at this time we didn't know that THEY WERE the owners!! when we'd done some digging & found this out & told them, they checked and confirmed that they were the owners! What a bunch of Twonks!! Still 3 months later they had done NOTHING to make the site safe Evil or Very Mad Eventually, because of the risk we felt existed for a child to fall into one of these tanks and out of sheer frustration at the councils inaction the local estate which owns much of the land in the town, & ourselves decided to go halvers on paying for the tanks to be removed completely and filled in. Of course this meant we had to get the councils permission to carry out the work as it was their land (shall I press a point Whistle ). They gave permission - no shock there then Rolling Eyes - but insisted that if we were going to dig up their pavement (which was where the covers were) that we'd have to make good any damage Evil or Very Mad Cheeky B Censored ds - of course we did this anyway but just shows how completely up their own backsides local councillers can be Twisted Evil 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

Yep, I share the sentiment, but, unfortunately I have to deal with these morons on a daily basis, and to put it simply they are probably one of the most perocial councils in the country and to be frank if you get on their bad side they WILL make life VERY difficult for you---and your business!
