.............. I'm going to keep well out of this Shocked .

The only thing I'd say to help Gazzer is that if a franchised dealer fits them at the point of PDI then the items will be covered by the 3-year vehicles warranty. If you buy separately and fit then just a 12-month defect warranty.

.............. right, I'm off! Whistle

Agree on the charge been expensive, but if you don't like paying it find an Indie or give 10forcash a email

As a comparison my LR dealer only charged me £68 for fitting OEM side tubes i supplied to them, surely there is as just about as many nuts & bolts on these as on a RRS side step Confused

If you are looking for cheaper rates there are some approve LR service centres that charge a lot less than main LR dealerships but you are unlikely to get a loan car and if you do it almost certainly will not be a RRS or LR.

You don't at Stratstone LR Bury anyway.....3 times now I have had a Censored Volvo.....they have VOLVOS as courtesy cars......whats that about???????

Important info James, thank you. Dealer has come back with revised figure, bit more than my local but with a 3 yr warranty on the parts, it is worth paying the small increase.

Premium marque = Premium servicing costs. Branding costs money which is why we buy these machines.

Otherwise we'd all be driving Vauxhalls or Kia Prides. Gone: RRS : HSE : TDv6 : 57 : Java Black : Ebony : 20"

James,

watch those splinters on that fence. Wink

I paid my Dealer to supply and fit the sidesteps, was about £650. Which I think was two hours labour plus supply.

I did wince a bit at the labour price, but as said as long as you know up front you're able to make your own decision.
I could have had dealer supply and get an indy to fit, but the extra time and arseing about I would have spent would have negated the saving in labour rates.

I thought about fitting them myself, as a anyone competent with a spanner could do it. But probably would have took me alot longer than two hours so cost saving disappears again.
And didn't fancy ordering another pair after driving over the set that fell off. Laughing

Saying that I pranged one sidestep against a metal post, damage was about two foot long, great protection for the rest of the bodywork. The post would have opened up both doors like a tin can. Shocked

When I had another one fitted, was quite pleased that they do supply single steps and not just pairs. Wasn't pleased that for that hours labour rate they didn't fit the body panels very well. Evil or Very Mad

I've spent a grand now on three steps. Whistle

Premium Brand - Premuim Prices. What I expected really

James,

One question on the accessory fitting at PDI, does this cover all LR approved accesories?

I bought mine as an LR Used Approved, it had the side body mouldings fitted at PDI by original buyer.

A couple started breaking away from the body at the front of the trim, my dealer said as they were a Dealer fitted accesory they were only coverd for 12 months and not 3 yrs.

Was this correct.

Thanks

P.S. they changed them as good will, because I got a little grumpy. Whistle

Yes, providing they are fitted at PDI then they are covered by the 3-year warranty. If the dealer wasn't the supplying dealer then they would not be able to tell if they were, therfore you would need to contact the original dealer or get a copy of the original invoice................. This sounds like hard work I know, but easier if you bought from new........ Then the dealer would need to establish if it is a defect of the part itself, as opposed to it being damaged.

Hope the above waffle make sense Question

Not sure I'd agree with you there. I bought mine because I like the shape of the vehicle, the high drivng position & the fantastic engine (TDV8). I don't give a monkey's for the branding and would be happy to have paid £1k less if LR didn't waste the money on pointless and expensive PR campaigns like G4.
