LR Experience - changing date?!

Guys,

Just wanted to vent and get your thoughts.....

I've had my freebie half day booked at Milton Keynes for a couple of months now and have been really looking forward to it. At the weekend it transpires that something on the personal front has come up which means that I'll need to drive my Wife and little lad somewhere on the day of the booking (next Sunday).

Granted the small print says that you need to give at least 7 days notice to change bookings, but I called first thing this morning and was given a jobs worth response of "sorry sir, but we can cancel your booking altogether but won't be able to reschedule".

I politely pointed out that, whilst I appreciate the small print, it is still 7 days until the day and I have recently bought a RR sport from one of their main dealers and would be considering an 2010MY vehicle in the not too distant future......however I was met with the same response. Evil or Very Mad

Perhaps I'm being a bit of pedantic, moaning sod here but I don't think it's unreasonable to change the booking for an existing customer in the name of customer service ?! If I don't get any joy then I'll be sending a snotty email to Anthony Bradbury (Marketing Director I believe?) and am a damn sight more likely to chop in my RRS for an RS4 avant come the end of the year...

Am I being unreasonable?

Answers on a postcard....

You don't need the Driving Experience day in their eyes - you already own an RRS so they don't need to persuade you into one.
Cynical I know, but that is all that LR use the LRE days for these days - in the past they used them to show you how to use all the controls, whistles and bells but so few people took up the free days AFTER purchase that LR stopped doing them. I've done 3 free full day LRE's and been on 2 others through Land Rover owners clubs but the one I would REALLY REALLY like to do is the one more appropriate for RRS's which is the track day, after all I can take my Defender offroading any weekend and do things in it I wouldn't dare do in the RRS, but there are very very few opportunities to see what an RRS can do at full chat on a track with an instructor at your side. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

They do seem a bit pernickety about date changes. Previously, I've been told you can only change the date twice before having to forego the event Shocked Tim is right though, aside from just being unreasonable, they could care less whether you go or not. The LRE instructors have all been x-trained as sales specialists (and none too happy about it either, if you speak to most of them) and so might seem only more willing to be flexible if they knew they might get a sale out of it.

JT,

Ring The Chilterns direct and ask for Richard Beddall or Mark Stopp's. Mention my name and suggest that I thought that they may be able to help in your hour of need. Can't guarantee it'll work but it's worth a try. Richard isn't on site as much as Mark, but worth asking for Richard in the first instance.

James Thumbs Up

Hi Guys,

Many thanks for the replies and thanks James, much appreciated. Have been away last week but will let you know how I get on (even though the date was last Sunday).

Thumbs Up JT
