Wow, that's really ! I can't bother reading all five pages, have those been caught yet?! Sorry to say that guys, but this acutally is the reason why I keep my keys next to the door (although my appartment has a very modern and intelligent alarm system). At least when they break in to steal my car they can grab the keys fast. I wouldn't want to be surprised by some guys with knifes at night searching for car keys in my bedroom (or any other room, no need for stupid jokes )! I prefer them to get fast in, fast out and leave me alone. The insurance will pay for the car (or most of it) but it can not bring me my life back when I have been in their way and killed by accident! It may sound harsh, but that's what I think about that. After all, I don't want those guys in my house or appartment at all that's why I have installed a very nice alarm system that directly calls the police if after setting of the silent alert if I don't put it out within a few moments. If you don't have your car back yet, I hope you'll get it in perfect condition soon! I believe SP's insurance policy enables him to come back from the dead if he is killed - it's all part of the service of his "portfolio" Seriously though, I agree with you mate.... let them take the car, less trouble all round 2009 Outstanding Contribution Award - Joint Runner Up 2009 'Tech-Head Of The Year' Award - Runner Up Like it here? Is that common where you are? It is here, because the thief’s drive down to MEXICO where the government does not care if their streets are full of stolen vehicles.. |

Over here it is quite common because we have the same thing not with Mexiko but with Eastern European states (sorry guys from there, no offence, but that's my experience), where you can easily sell a car without serial number. And since we have the EU the borders to these contries are not controlled at all! Fortunately I didn't hear of them breaking into houses for stealing cars yet, but therefore there are other tactics: Some of my friends are car dealers, there the thiefs come with big vehicle transporters at night, put 8 or more cars on them and drive away. Even if somebody sees them he will think that there is just some delivery made and walks on that's why there never is any hint. Installing cameras also doesn't help becuase the vehicle transporters are also stolen and until you arrive in the morning about 6-8 hours after the theft and inform the police they already are abroad with the transporter and your cars. This has also happened in the past but it's getting more and more and the only thing against it is paying students for staying in the dealership during the night and calling the police as soon as any thiefs arrive. Another thing which is becoming bigger and bigger is stealing of car parts and sell them via ebay. I know an AUDI dealer who does not have any of the used S-models outside the building (although all used cars are usually outside, the new cars inside) because if there is just one of them parked outside the building (and therefore not within the scope of the alarm system) for one night, the mirrors and some other small parts are gone. Same thing with used cars with satnav, the thiefs even lock the car again after stealing the satnav. No sign at all on my RRS although latest info is that my insurance company are to make a full loss offer , so now i have to move into bartering mode on what they and i think is fair value and then onto the GAP people.

Doesn't matter what your insurance company offer as you have GAP insurance so don't get stressed out about figures - unless they are of the female kind! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
