Top Gear is back

For those that did'nt already know, Top Gear is back on Sunday night 8PM Speed Limits! not where I live!

2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Fuji White

SBS have launched a local version, same format, Stig etc, but with local presenters. Have not watched it much due to the fact its trying to regurgitate the same type of show that Clarkson, May and the hamster have made their own.. to me it does not work here. HOWEVER......

Tonight they did an outback challenge with the Lexus (new Landcruiser), Full Fat and a Q7 (odd choice). Surprisingly they all went for the Full Fat at the end, no knocking of quality, reliability etc... it basically handled everything in its stride. The Lexus cabin absolutely leaked dust the whole time, and in the outback the roads are purely made up of dust, hmm not a good advert for the Land Cruisers expensive rebadged variant... They looked for any obvious faults, but could not find any..aircon on recycle, checked seals etc

Q7 was deemed great on the tarmac as well as sure footed on the unsealed, not to bad off-road..(moderate) which was the surprise.. The Rangie won the day over the other two, throw in a mixture of desert driving, unsealed roads, tarmac, rainforest tracks, driving through creeks and rock crawling, therefore testing all attributes of what they are supposed to be able to handle.. you get a more consistent result about all round capability...how refreshing

Schmoogle 2 markets here,

Rural seems geared towards the Nissan Patrol/Toyota Land Cruiser market. Toyota were far more aggressive in setting up the dealer network than landrover...

Sydney school runs: BMW X5's and Merc ML's, they breed like rabbits.. little X3's now appearing in force, RX Lexus's and the rest of the soft roader generation coming up behind..

I would say Full fat's seem more numerous than Sports around Sydney... but the D3 outnumbers us all.. Another Pommie Bar Steward down under
