£817 for a 30,000 mile service !

This RRS ownership is getting more expensive by the day. What with depreciation now around £700 a month, fuel so expensive you daren't even look and then to add to the pain, in comes the 30,000 mile service bill at a staggering £817.

This bill is made up as follows (inc VAT) :

Replace front and rear brake pads : £282

30,000 mile service : £435

Wheel alignment : £100

Apparently the front brake pads are £117.50 alone, being Brembos

The Castrol oil costs a staggering £49

And the wheel alignment was something they did after I pointed out how horribly worn out were the inner edges of the winter tyres I took off in May. They never even said if the alignment needed adjusting.

Should I kick up a stink, or are these costs just a necessary expense of running such a good motor Question RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

Well you could save a few ££££'s by buying your Castrol from Halfords and asking the garage to use that (I complained many times to the local dealer here about their lube oil prices and that was what they told me to do!) - I don't understand how dealers can charge so much for something they buy in bulk quantities. Out of interest S, how much did they charge for "environmental" disposal of the old oil and used parts? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Alignment seems high and if the front pads are that much the figure seems low with their labour in mind - you can save by doing the brakes yourself there is nothing to it....

Alignment is the main item i would have issue with if not requested, sought or authorised...

Still not much of a dent in £817 though Sad

I asked at the local dealers yesterday "how much for the first service of my TDv8?" ............. and eventually after much searching in their computer the service person came up with a price of £361 pounds for the 15000 miles service of a TDv8 Sport 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
