OK, so I've been on holiday for a week - but what have I missed ? Has VA piled his motor again ? Oh, and by the way. I met a chap with "inside info" on hols who tells me that Ford are testing a 4.4 litre TDv8, that the 3 litre TDv6 is almost ready to roll and that the current standard TDv8 has been bench tested to 600 newton something or others. I told him that I had had my TDv8 chipped and he wasn't impressed. Tells me that Ford have £8m of hardware & software to get the right engine tune, then some amateurs come along with little more than a PC and a rolling road and reckon they can do much better. He says any chipped engine will have a significantly shorter life and runs a significantly higher risk of failure (especially the turbo unit). Scary or what ....? All mfrs say that about their engine maps being modified... sounds like he was scaremongering to me. If it was that damaging there wouldn't be such a market for it. And even if does significantly reduce engine life, what does significantly mean? A modern engine should last what...300k if looked after? Even if that drops to 200k, it's hardly the end of the world. The car's not going to be worth much at that point anyway.... |

No it's very dull and the car is still drivable - basically it needs a new sat nav, new audio, new Phone kit, new dvd player and new carpets, door interior panels and various other bits. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
