But do you have the navigation computer under the seat? as would have thought navigation would be a option on the "S" as well.

Sometimes you will install a new map disc and it will also update firmware in the unit too.

You also hear about later map discs not containing all the data that a LR disc would have. And thus voice doesn’t work.

I think you have to accept it doesn’t work and move on. Im sure phones can take voice notes

Op. Try putting your old disc in and see if voice returns.

2008 or 2009 disc had a firmware update, this feature should be working straight out the box in a 2005, though. Regards etc.,

OK, great lead. Do you have the satnav as well or 4x4 info only? Regards etc.,

If the car hasn't got navigation then the voice recognition software is in the phone transceiver module.

Col - I think Wojtek's comment refers to my 2006 Sport were the computer is under the front seat. Andrew Andrew Kennedy

Hi, my mistake and getting a little side tracked, I was actually asking savi18 if he had the navigation computer under the seat as the "S" didn't have it as standard, but he does have voice recognition otherwise the software is in the transceiver module for the phone.

Cheers

Hi Col. Side tracked?...I'm a little confused! To summarise the discussion re by "Voice Recognition" paddle is not working. Are we saying the Voce Recognition is nothing to do with the GPS system? And I should be looking ells ware to solve the problem? I had presumed, wrongly it would seem, that the two functions were linked to the Disk Andrew Kennedy

What I was saying is, if you have the navigation unit under the seat the voice recognition software is installed in that, if you don't have the navigation computer it is installed in the phone transceiver module which is located behind the r/h panel in the boot, whether updated software/firmware if required can be installed by using the latest genuine disc I don't know or if it can be done using a gap tool or sdd. You maybe able to find the current version via. the 753 menu but not sure on that either, but you still need to know the latest version number to compare if req.

Cheers
